I’m likely in the minority on this take but these 5-star prima donna WRs coming out of high school may be a terrible NIL investment for the Longhorns so if we miss on both Sales and Royal, Good Riddance!!! Last season we had two 5-star freshman at WR and one committed a small amount down the stretch, the other didn’t do anything and transferred at end of season. Conversely, two of our top three WRs going into this 2026 season are both transfers like well to have a massive and immediate impact. Perhaps WR is one of those positions we simply need to cherry pick from the portal and hit HR with instant impact rather than overspending on potential 5-stars that take 2-3 yrs to develop/contribute. SEC going to 9 game conference schedule only further supports 24 team playoff. SEC would get 8-9 teams in every year and they’d be better prepared for playoff run after facing depth of SEC First 8 get week 1 bye 9-16 host 17-24 1-8 host winners in week 2 Everything else the same: Week 3 on NY Day with 4 bowl games (1 on NYE) followed by Semi finals and finals. Time to finalize and let’s stop looking at conf s heduke as a negative. It’s huge positive once you make playoffs, better prepared for deep run.

Texas Tech Leadership (or lack thereof) and our Texas Atty General look even more like f’ing morons after the CFL followed the NFL’s lead, sending a clear signal. Brandon Sorsby is not allowed to play or be under contract in their professional league. It’s becoming more and more clear, with all the threats of lawsuits and the way he responded to the NCAA ban by seeking injunction, Sorsby may never play football again. Love to see Texas Tech exposed for what they are, a school willing to sell their soul at all cost for ‘respect’ and the exact opposite happened in the process. If the SEC and Big 10 ever add more teams, I can guarantee you one team on their ‘banned from consideration’ list. Would love to see LWC in the backfield. Encouraging to see the momentum that’s picking up with elite 27 recruits. Just like the past 4 seasons, be patient while others race for early commits, finish strong, get the right mix of talent, grind and culture fit.
