CFP seeding
CPF is a very long shot. Here's how it breaks down - I agree Texas will be 15. Even though the CFP has 12 teams, Texas needs to be in the top 10 because two lower ranked conference champs will take up two spots. For that to happen, next week 5 of these 7 teams need to lose - OU Notre Dame Alabama BYU Utah Miami Vanderbilt Then Texas Tech needs to win the Big 12 so that conference only takes one spot. There are some other weird long shot scenarios that could open up a spot - Texas Tech losing next week and in the CC to BYU Miami beating Pitt then winning the ACC championship (both Virginia and SMU have to lose for Miami to make it). Texas jumps one of the seven higher ranked teams above even if they win If Oregon or Ole Miss gets blown out, maybe Texas jumps them, but I doubt it. So basically root against all seven of the teams above. But really just beat aggie.

What losses benefit us today?
Miami would be the second ACC team. They’re unlikely to make the championship game and where they’re ranked, they win and they’re in ahead of us.
-
What losses benefit us today?
If Miami beats Pitt they’ll get two. That’s the only way since Georgia Tech lost.

What losses benefit us today?
ACC is more complicated than I thought. Would be super helpful if Pitt can beat Miami. Otherwise they’ll get two bids because Miami is a long shot to win the conference

What losses benefit us today?
Will double check this tomorrow but I think Texas needs losses from 4 of OU, Notre Dame, Alabama, BYU, Utah, or Vanderbilt. Then Texas Tech and Miami need to win conference championship games.

Final update on Texas LB Anthony Hill Jr.'s availability for Arkansas
Just occurred to me that Hill may have played his last game at Texas. I’m sure they’ll do everything thing possible for him to go against aggie but still. Wish we had more of him!

Texas vs Hogs score predictions
31-28 Texas. I haven’t been close on scores all year but I’ve only picked the wrong winner twice - Ohio St and OU.

How Texas makes the CFP
With you there. I’m not quitting on the team just pulling for a win against arky at this point.

How Texas makes the CFP
It’s fun to talk playoffs, I get it. More fun to watch other games if they impact Texas somehow. Love the arguments about strength of schedule, record, conference etc. And I never need an excuse to root against OU. I just can’t get into it this year because this is just not a playoff team unfortunately.

College coaching carousel 2025: It's going to be wild
Our house has a lot of glass to be throwing the “big game loser” stone at other programs at the moment. Sorry I’m still salty I guess.

No CFP this year
Weird year because with two games left, you could reasonably argue either. We could be CFP level or a subpar sec team. It’s crazy because both are true. Beat two top ten teams, but lose to one of the worst teams in the conference and need miracles to beat two other bad teams. Sometimes we even switch from playoff caliber to bad in the same game (Vanderbilt, Miss St). Feels to me like we’re closer to 7-5 than 9-3, but we’ll see. Either way, huge offseason for the program.

A lot of turnover when NIL talks heat up?
With revenue sharing I would imagine renegotiating/lowering NIL would basically just be pushing the player in the portal. Maybe ok in some cases but could really blow up depth if overly aggressive

CFP preference: Bye into the quarterfinals or a first-round home game?
An extra home game is more fun though!

CFP preference: Bye into the quarterfinals or a first-round home game?
In general, take the bye for competitive advantage. Didn’t play out that way last year, but years of NFL data shows that teams with the bye are significantly more likely to make/win the Super Bowl.
