There may be some confusion about point guard in general. Combo guards are actually able to get into the paint, make the defense collapse and kick it out for an assist. They can even throw lobs for dunks. I watched the interview. You can win with one or win without one. If the top player in the country wanted to come to Texas and was an old school point guard, I am quite sure Coach Miller would gladly take him.

He patterned his game after Jordan. His attitude and how he approached the game and practice were identical to Jordan. It doesn’t surprise me that they were friends.

How did we get to the NBA on this thread? Basketball is constantly changing. Luka, Joker have virtually no athleticism at all. They have perfected the high release point. And even though basketball is constantly changing the only thing that remains the same is Kobe is not better than MJ and if he did say that he took it back. This was 2022. Wilcher has looked better but he is not the shooter with length Texas needs, and he is not a guard that can get downhill. Would be great coming off the bench.

That’s the one thing I haven’t seen from Coach Miller. Make somebody else beat you. I am sure he has his reasons but I haven’t seen that yet.

Thank Jeff. A win is a win. I hope that last jump shot gets Mark back in a groove. He found ways to score close to the basket but that jump shot changes the odds of Texas winning when it is dropping.

My stepson graduated from A&M. So I had to walk the campus with him. Nice campus, and we end up at a bookstore. I look at this picture on the wall of a basketball game. I immediately notice Gabe Muoneke. This a guy who played basketball at UT in the late nineties. So it’s a picture of a game Texas played there. I look up at the score, and it’s something like 36-34. How could that be? So I look a little closer, and it’s the halftime score. And yes I looked up the score. A&M lost at home to Texas. So, they had a photo on the wall of a game they lost! I told the lady at the counter about it. “Well most of the students here don’t know that. Does it really matter”? No, it doesn’t matter. I still tell that story to every Aggie I run into.

Who did they give all their NIL to? Walk ons for every sport.

He definitely missed some close ones but that’s Matas issue going forward. He’s not athletic and players with height and athleticism will give him trouble going forward. However he did get dominated by a player five inches shorter than him last game, so maybe all defenders bother him.

I have no complaints. Everybody does a great job. Every now and then we get into but it’s all in fun. On a few other sites and this is the best place to come for news. You guys get it faster than anyone. OTF knew about Goosby’s shoulder. Two other sites had it as breaking news. Some of those guys thought he was having reconstructive shoulder surgery. In fact I am offering to take @Jeff Howe @Bobby Burton @CJ Vogel and @Gerry Hamilton and @Joe Zura to a men’s basketball game. Who’s with me!!! Matas was shut down because he played against an athletic big that was basically the same height as him. The only threes were hit by Swain.
