Nolan Cain Leaves Texas, Returns to Texas A&M

SEC, B1G Release Statement on Protect College Sports Act
"What we did today was say we're not going to let the most powerful, richest conferences dictate to the rest of America what's going to happen to 500,000 athletes," Cantwell said during the Commerce Committee voting session. This is a direct quote from the bills co-sponsor (M.Cantwell, Senator from Washington state). This pretty much captures the essence and the perspective of the senator(s) pushing this bill through the legislative process. Notice Sen Cantwell doesn’t even mention anything about the bill’s other major features (transfer rules, compensation issues, anti-trust exemption), but instead is singularly focused on protecting the poor little 500,000 athletes from the big, bad P2 conferences (SEC / B1G). Like it or not, this is the prevailing narrative and clearly this is how the legislation is being framed. Whether or not this becomes the law of the land is still to be determined, but we are certainly not winning the battle of public opinion here.

SEC, B1G Release Statement on Protect College Sports Act
The bill is going through mark-up in the Senate as I type this, and once completed, it will progress to the Senate floor for full consideration by the end of the day today. So, the notion that “we’re not letting the little schools write the rules anymore” was just slapped down within the last 3 hours. The little schools political benefactors just WROTE the rules and attached them to the bill in the Senate this morning. Whether the bill ultimately passes the Senate and House is still TBD, but the rules are now written in the Senate so all that’s left is the voting.

SEC, B1G Release Statement on Protect College Sports Act
I don’t think this press release would be issued if there wasn’t a chance of it passing

SEC, B1G Release Statement on Protect College Sports Act
(paraphrasing) “…we are getting rolled in the legislative process by the politicians purchased by the lesser (but more numerous) college athletic programs…” - sincerely, SEC/B1G You don’t put out a press release like this unless you’re firing a warning shot to your constituents (which in this case, is all fans of SEC / B1G athletic programs).

What went wrong in Omaha and what's next for the Texas baseball program?
He’s my crush DH. But if I could only have one Oregon portal player, give me Laya.

What went wrong in Omaha and what's next for the Texas baseball program?
He’s not draft eligible

What went wrong in Omaha and what's next for the Texas baseball program?
Is the Oregon outfielder (Laya) a possibility for Texas?

CWS Elimination Game: Texas vs. Georgia | Texas loses, 2-0
Tinney is something else as a defensive catcher. He’s responsible for at least 3 UGA runs in these past two games (while Texas offense has a total of 1 run in two games).

Isa Torres... (Update 5:41 pm- Torres is a Longhorn!)
Tech will do ANYTHING to change the topic and deflect the narrative from the last few weeks. No amount of $$$ is too much for them to get the egg off their faces.

Brendan Sorsby to Enter NFL Supplemental Draft
Cincinnati is still suing Sorsby for $1M for breaking his contract with the school, so whatever settlement he negotiated with Tech, subtract $1M to get what Sorsby will walk away with here.

Big 12 taking legal action against Texas Tech
I don’t know who advised Tech / Campbell that preemptively coming over the top with a letter from the Texas AG (and another from Kessler) was a wise move, but it sure does appear to be backfiring on them. Oh wait, maybe I do know who likely thought that strategy would be a good move (see Campbell, Cody). 😂 Perhaps there will be a stay of the injunction on the upcoming appeal and cooler heads will prevail (and Sorsby will disappear to the NFL Supplemental draft), but it seems that Tech just continues to shoot themselves in the foot on this matter. The scorched Earth approach may wind-up only scorching Tech’s athletic future.

Hi
Are 2 of the “Hi”s prior to this morning’s coaches meetings with departing OV recruits? If so, I’ll guess the 2 are Meredith and J.Tu’opo. i’ll guess this new “Hi” (today) is Siler.

College World Series: No. 6 Texas vs. No. 3 Georgia | Texas loses, 7-1
Here’s a task for the crack ESPN research staff…has there ever been a game where one pitcher set a record for Ks, while the other pitcher set a record for HBPs?

Here’s a wild idea….swing at the first pitch (hint: it’s a strike right down the middle).

Texas Tech's Video from Leadership
I can’t believe that babbling moron is the president of a major university in the state of Texas. Did Tech conduct a job search for the least impressive, least qualified academic administrator they could find?

Texas Tech's Video from Leadership
It’s so funny how Tech is trying to spin and position some of this. 1. Tech repeatedly says “this lawsuit was solely brought by Sorsby and Tech is not a party to the lawsuit…”. Well, duh. Sorsby was the only one suspended by the NCAA, not Tech. 2. Tech continues to beat the drum of “mitigating” factors, particularly Sorsby’s future career (in football) being impacted. So, you’re now allowed to violate the law and the rules of your organization, if it will cost you a future paycheck? Prisons are full of criminals missing out on future paychecks because they broke the law. It’s called the justice system. 3. Tech tries to disassociate itself from Sorbsy’s decision to file the lawsuit, but immediately uses the word “we” (repeatedly) to describe all the next steps / process following the judge’s decision. That sure sounds like a collaboration. 4. The Techtards keep talking about “standing behind our students…”. Really? So if a Tech student is accused of raping someone, does the Tech adminstration stand behind the accused while awaiting trial? Does the Tech President allow the accused rapist to represent Tech in athletic competitions, academic competitions, student government, or other student organizations? I’m guessing not. But we make this exception when the accused is the $6M star QB. Pathetic leadership.

Texas Tech's Video from Leadership
Isn’t Hocutt violating HIPAA by disclosing Sorsby’s “medically diagnosed” conditions (repeatedly)? He mentions addiction, anxiety disorder, and one other condition I’m not familiar with. If so, it’d be funny if Sorsby sues Tech for making these impermissible personal medical disclosures.

Hi ... again
Not to be negative here, but he’s got an OV to Tech this weekend, and then he’s making a final decision on Sunday (immediately after the Tech OV). This will give Tech the last shot here, and (no doubt) they’ll have the highest bid. Given the decison date being moved up and the Tech OV not being cancelled, it seems Nelson knows he has to make a final decision on Tech’s NIL offer by Sunday.

Austin Super Regional: Texas vs. Oregon | Game 2: Texas wins, 6-5, advances to CWS
I’m glad I’m not an Oregon fan, or I’d be spewing 4-letter words right about now. Good grief do they lack fundamentals.

Wednesday - Joey McGuire Not Telling the Truth?
I assume ND is what Tech is referencing. Then, they’ll pull the “Texas was scared to play ND, but we (Tech) are happy to schedule the home-and-home with the Irish”.
