Women's Hoops
Texas is playing LaSalle. As I post this, there are 9 min to go in the second quarter. Texas is leading 24-12. The only remark I would have about this game so far is that Texas is much better on offense AND defense with Harmon in the game. She is the essence of PG on O and pest on D.

SEC basketball rankings
I suppose it is obvious that Texas must execute better in the half court offense. In fact, RT called the team on it after UCONN. Now IMO UCONN is really well coached, up there with the best coached teams of recent years. They run their offense patiently and crisply and either find a back door cut or an open three. Very smooth, have been against everyone for three seasons now. Also IMO RT is a good coach. Not in Hurley's class, but as Jordan has iterated and reiterated Texas did not have that class of coach available to it. I think RT is better than the the two coaches since RB left. I think he has a good staff and recruits well. I think he teaches fundamentals and with a willing audience that has worked together for awhile he gets good results. Some have pointed to his overall record as a negative, but in fact he improved every program he joined, quite noticeably. The one real possibility that Texas could have as RT approaches or passes 60 YO is a young up and coming coach. We tried that after RB and it did not work out. But we are not coaxing Coach K our of retirement, or Wright, or stealing Hurley. If you are a critic of RT and actually think you know something about basketball watch a lot of games and find us a young up and coming coach who has led his guys to play complementary ball together for four or five consecutive seasons. Don't whine, educate yourselves and the rest of us.

I think Texas will exceed that prediction, but I don't know by how much. It will depend on injury and recovery. The full complement of eight rotational players has not been available yet. Some of the developmental guys have got some run against the little sisters of the poor, so that a little alternate depth is being created. In the last two games there have been assists, a word that was previously missing. The team has played defense well enough to beat two probable Q1 teams. The offense has only proven complementary against the last two opponents, who put up less resistance than wet papier mache.

I don't like Vinson's demeanor at all in this game.

I have no problem with Shedrick on an open fast break but that looked like either a discontinued or double dribble. I don't think they call those tightly any more.

Will OU be able to field a team of scholarship players against Navy? I know that I shouldn't feel sorry for them but I do. Unless this is a tough love move from Venables it is an awful implosion for a P4 team to suffer. I do want our rivalry to continue to mean what it has over the years, while wanting Texas to beat OU like a drum every October. They have to be very good for beating them to feel great.

Malik Murphy on the move
We saw QE reshape his body after his first season here. Went from a pudgy 215 to a muscular 205 or so. There was a photo of him bare chested after his transformation, along with the other QBs. If I can find it I will post it. MM looked like a TE among the QBs in the photo. MM can stay in the ACC while playing for a California team next season. Seems weird. SEC is the only P4 conference that is geographically contiguous now. Which reminds me: Wazzu and Oregon St are attempting to revive a PAC by taking the top end of the Mountain West. Following the 2025-26 academic season, the Pac-12 will expand to include Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State in football as well as Gonzaga in men’s and women’s basketball and other league-sponsored sports. The collective eight universities will continue to collaboratively chart additional membership and other future conference considerations. The strongest G6 might be a landing spot for MM, as well, football wise, but if he wants to continue his academic journey Texas to Duke to Cal or Stanford sounds good. -

While ragged, the team did move the ball around without their three best players on the floor. A sign they are being correctly coached.

When I was 16 I was 6-2 170 and could grab the rim. I could push my baseball glove over the rim and sort of dunk a baseball. At 81, I am now 5-11+ with an 8" vertical.

I used to have a rudder. Larry has made two nice assists underneath. We could have used that headiness by him against UCONN.

From Aaron Bryant
Most of the guys ahead of him are GONE next season. Assuming PT is his motive he must have been told that Texas expects to bring in at least two MORE DTs in the portal who will be expected to be ahead of him. Assuming that message from the staff and the level of confidence it would signify, it makes me think they know who and what they are getting.
