Beautiful Day at the Ballpark
Thanks, just imagine the yards that some 1960's players would have had, e.g.- Worster, both Koys, Sexton, Gilbert ...

Beautiful Day at the Ballpark
The Texas Shorthorns they played an abbreviated schedule if I recall correctly. Not sure exact year that freshmen started playing, but it was just before Earl got here. He had over 1000 yds as a fresh. Played fullback in the WB, I think.

Rodney Terry back to the sidelines
Good luck RT! We'll always appreciate your stabilizing the team during a very weird situation! Wishing you the best!

Carson Tinney
Ricky Bradley, you're going way back! Keith Moreland played then. Catcher for the 73 NC. From Lufkin, his brother , Randy, was pitcher as well.

A (good) update on my son, Colt
I'm thrilled for him and your family! Brings moisture to this old guy/s eyes!

CJ and Rod blind rank six of the best Texas QB seasons ever
I agree. Everyone thinks about the great running backs on the '68 & '69 teams. However, the wishbone wasn't performing Bill Bradley. Street comes in & the Horns don't lose again for any of his starts. He was also a starting pitcher on the baseball. Don't forget Bradley had a long NFL career as a safety. He was one of our last 2 way players.

Where third-year Longhorns stand entering a critical season for their football futures
All these guys have talent. It comes down to that inner drive. We have multiple examples of players "growing up". For example, look at the D line draftees the last few years... Or the TE room, especially Helm. For me, the one that exemplifies this best is Jahdae Baron. Talk about having a pair, going to Huff Daddy to request #7 & then winning the Thorpe. All these guys only knew a head down, a** up work ethic. Basically saying, "I'm not just going to be a UT letterman; I want to leave my mark." At the end of 2026, we'll know who those are.

Baseball: Strength gains are powering Texas' hot start at the plate and on the mound
Thanks Jeff! It's early, but Mendoza & Riojas seem to be exhibits A&B for the team's off season training & weight room work. Five games is a poor sample size, but I get the feeling that you will be discussing many of the players on the roster in the same light as these two.

RIP Chris Gilbert?
You are 100% right about using the WB. I should have said started with Street at the beginning of the season.
-
RIP Chris Gilbert?
Agreed about Street and the wishbone. QB's weren't used the same then as the are now. Duke Carlisle won our first natty in '64. There were a couple who played that season. Bradley was a true DB. He earned All SWC honors that year. Played something like 12 years with the Eagles afterwards. Just to clarify, we tied UH 20-20. I went to the game. Imagine 14-8 yo kids sitting in the bleachers alone while their parents sat in stadium seats today. Lost to tech, and won out. I'm a nerd about that era due to my real awakening to college football and our beloved Longhorns!

RIP Chris Gilbert?
Last time we played Tennessee. Happened to be my first Cotton Bowl. I was 9. My seat was in front of Tommy Nobis. He and his buds smoked the biggest cigars I'd ever seen. Had that team started the season in the wishbone, they'd probably have gone undefeated.

RIP Chris Gilbert?
Jim Bertelsmann replaced Gilbert. Ted Koy was in the original 1968 wishbone backfield

RIP Chris Gilbert?
First wishbone backfield!

RIP Chris Gilbert?
Hahaha, that's exactly where I was sitting when I first remember him.

2026 Texas Offense…
Let's not forget Emree Winston. Something about this lad that seems to say winner. We just might have a 3 headed tandem.

20 Years Ago Today….
Thanks Blake! I flew from Thailand to see the game. Best plane ticket I've ever bought! My wife thought I was nuts. Since then, we've flown over for games together. OU weekend is her favorite. Though the celebration when we joined the SEC was great for a none football game! 🤘🏼
