If that is the case, then all of the so-called “experts” are sports writers and not lawyers. Of course, it is possible that the NCAA may lose this court case, and the verdict may be sustained on appeal. I certainly wouldn’t bet against that. But until that happens, it’s not a “done deal.“ I suspect that is why Texas is not charging ahead to violate these rules when all that has happened is that the NCAA has been temporarily been enjoined against enforcing said rules. If you think a district court judge in the eastern district of Tennessee is going to have the final say on this matter, I’m not sure what to tell you. If I had to bet, I would think it’s more likely that Congress will wade into this matter, regardless of how this case is finally decided, and preempt the judiciary.

It seems pretty clear to me that this is just a ruling restricting enforcement action during the pendency of the case. No ruling on the merits has even been issued, let alone appealed. “It is hereby ORDERED that, effective immediately, Defendant NCAA; its servants, agents, and employees; and all persons in active conce11 or participation with the NCAA, are restrained and enjoined from enforcing the NCAA Interim NIL Policy, the NCAA Bylaws, or any other authority to the extent such authority prohibits student-athletes from negotiating compensation for NIL with any third-party entity, including but not limited to boosters or a collective of boosters, until a full and final decision on the merits in the instant action.”

I agree with much of what has been posted above. I don’t see how a temporary injunction that prohibits the NCAA from enforcing its rules can be interpreted to mean that the rules have changed or no longer apply. That may well be the end result, but that is not the regulatory landscape right now.

I think all of the investigators and compliance officers from Baylor football must’ve moved to Lake Travis. It seems like both followed similar investigative patterns.

Fortunately, in this case, the young man will have the opportunity to attend any college with or without a football scholarship. He seems to be from a well off family. This will not define him. For what it’s worth, I agree with every word Nick Saban says in the clip below.

You had to know that this would be the outcome when all of the graduating team leaders amplified this story. Clearly a tragic poor choice, but he did this to a teammate before a game. That is not something you can overlook.

Has that term been included in the extension? I know it was in the original contract.

Pretty interesting that both Xavier Worthy and Jonathan Brooks are Tweeting about the peanut allergy bullying incident. I can’t imagine that that recruit will make it to campus.

It will be interesting to see the full contract, including the terms of the buyout. Hopefully it will still be 70% of the remaining contract amount. But even if it is fully guaranteed, Texas would be facing a $40 million buyout if Sark followed the Jimbo Fisher trajectory.

If K.J. Lacey would just settle on a school he could be such a positive force in Texas recruiting. I’m glad he canceled the visit to Ole Miss. Of course, it seemed like the world was ending when Ryan Perrilloux flipped to LSU.

I miss the very early days of these rankings (whatever the iteration was before what is now called Rivals, pre-247). Back then it seemed that much more credence was given to which schools were recruiting players. As time progressed, the sites hired their own talent evaluators. Not that that was a bad thing but which schools target players isn’t irrelevant. l always felt the wheels came off for Mack Brown when he started to pay more attention to the recruiting rankings rather than his staff’s own evaluations. Ditto for Jimbo Fisher. But if you want to have a top ranked class through the lens of the recruiting services, then those rankings are important.
