Wow, Kentucky gets the set. Texas was really out of sorts at the end, making unforced errors to let Kentucky come back

Texas will make their appearance in the top 10 at some point during the winter season. Let’s see how close football and volleyball can get them!

This team is so tough, has fought back in sets so many times this year. They are battle tested.

And hopefully the 2 or 3 overall seed. Would be nice to avoid Nebraska until the final.

Texas and Texas A&M both get some breaks as they will face the 14 and 15 seeds (ole miss and vandy) in the quarterfinals. Both teams should advance, pretty easily, and set up a rematch tomorrow.

Hard to say. They were very competitive in their first year last year and have brought in quality players. Not sure if they have a roster to go deeper than the elite 8 like last year though as at that point you have to beat a well established power.

Cross country finished their seasons last weekend. The men took 5th in the regional, not impressive but will earn 27ish Directors Cup points. The women with a really poor showing and a 7th place finish. That’ll be a 0 for the cup. Hopefully this is 1 of our 2 dropped scores. Texas really needs to invest in some distance runners. Some top Cc runners that can also score in distance events in track and field.

Texas could secure a 1 seed with a good showing in the SEC tournament. Ranked 3 right now and #2 in RPI they currently sit in a very strong position. winning their first match and then a likely rematch vs A&M probably enough to remain in the top 4 overall even with a loss to Kentucky in the championship. Win the tourney and have a shot at the 2 seed (Nebraska will be the overall 1 seed). Getting the 2 or 3 overall seed would be nice to avoid Nebraska until the championship match.

Both CC teams.

At this point, by all metrics Texas remains a top 4 team - #4 in AVCA rankings and #3 in RPI. They need to round back into form and secure some wins down the stretch and have a good showing in the SEC tournament. Getting a 1 seed will go a long way to a deep tourney run.

The lone star show down standings took a major hit yesterday. Both CC teams finished behind A&M and the volleyball team dropped their first match of the year. With the soccer loss as well the current standings are 4-0 in favor of the Aggies.

Overall not very impressive finishes for CC, men take 7th and women 13th. Looking ahead to the regional, both teams finish behind 2 fellow south central region teams so finishing in the top 2 in the region continues to be very unlikely.

Pursuing the internet and can’t find any details. Some old stories about previous contract extensions. I think she may have been extended after having a pretty successful season 2 years back.

We will get another look at the cross country squads tomorrow morning with the SEC championships being run just after 9 am. The Texas squad will be going head to head against some of their biggest competition in the south central region - Arkansas and A&M - so we should get a clearer picture of our potential NCAA regional finish after tomorrows meet. I’m still thinking top 5 finish in the region with an unlikely chance at a top 2 finish and a trip to the NCAA championship.

The soccer team ends the year on a bit of a high note winning a battle of the 2 worst teams in the conference by beating ole miss 2-0. The win vaults them up to 14th place in the conference. It’s a 12 team conference tourney so this season is over. Texas goes 4-12-1 on the season. The worst ever for the women’s soccer program. Now we wait to see if CDC makes any moves.

A quick peek at some spring sports: men’s and women’s golf have concluded fall golf and both had some strong showings and will enter the spring ranked in the top 5. The men’s team is particularly strong and will push for a natty. Both tennis teams have been competing in singles competition. Similar to golf, both likely top 5 teams with the men’s team being very strong and a natty contender. yesterday swimming and diving faced off against Tennessee. Men’s and women’s teams won handily against the tenn squads ranked 5th and 4th. Texas will be far and away the best SEC team and both of these squads will finish on the podium and push for national championships.
