Monday Morning Recruiting Nuggets The Texas Longhorns staff is coming off an extremely busy couple of months on the recruiting front.  January brought a Junior Day with around 150 combined prospects in the 2025 and 2026 classes in Austin.  The staff wrapped up the month with a number of new offers being made in 2025 and 2026, mostly out of state.  OnTexasFootball gets the week going with some Monday morning recruiting nuggets. Texas practices at DKR this morning. There will be a 30-minute viewing window for media. CJ and Gerry will both be there for OTF. We'll also be hosting a livestream immediately following practice so please stop by around 9:45 or so for more. * Heading into the second week of practice, there are a couple of things to watch. 1. Movement at wide receiver, edge, tight end and safety. Those are the primary places where portal entries have currently been running behind others.

Steve Sarkisian had to be just sitting back and smiling Sunday afternoon, basking in the roar of the football media over his Longhorns. Just about everyone, everywhere was talking about the performances of Texas football players at the NFL combine. If it wasn't NFL draft guru Daniel Jeremiah, it was Bo Jackson. If it wasn't Chris Simms, it was Chase Daniels. If it wasn't Rich Eisen, it was Tyreek Hill. Name someone, anyone, that had a microphone or access to social media, and they were

A little bit of NIL news from behind the scenes. The Texas One Fund continues to put its best foot forward to raise NIL funds for Texas student-athletes. I'm told the group is working on a major charity gala set for mid-May. And the venue will be... DKR. The actual field itself. Chris Del Conte began reaching out to major donors late last week. ** Speaking of the One Fund, the group is beginning to attract the interest of a few companies for sponsorships, among

It should come as little surprise, but for those thinking that Texas may attempt to rekindle a game with Texas Tech, Baylor, or any other Big 12 team soon, I am told don't hold your breath. According to a high-ranking university source, the riff between Texas and the Big 12 has not ebbed in recent months, even if it is no longer a major topic within the athletic department. Brett Yormark's public pre-season comments in Lubbock and those of deputy Big 12 commissioner Tim Weiser on radio

I continue to be told that both Brandon Harris, currently the director of recruiting, and John Michael Jones, the assistant director of player personnel, are expected to be elevated. Harris is likely to become the team’s general manager or whatever terminology Steve Sarkisian opts to call it, a role which was expected to be held by Billy Glasscock prior to his move to Ole Miss last week. Harris has been a steady, trusted force in the recruiting department for the Longhorns under Sark.

Of the 31 recruits currently slated to make official visits in June, here is the position breakdown: QB - 1 RB - 1 WR - 7 TE - 3 OL - 7 DL - 5 LB - 3 DB - 4 The Horns actually have more than 31 official visitors lined up, but 31 is the current public number. For example, running back Jordon Davison of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei and receiver DK Moore of Duncanville are both expected to visit but have yet to announce their specific dates, so they

UPDATE 1pm: The first new offer of the day has gone out to Ryan Fodje, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound offensive lineman from Bridgeland HS in the Houston area. ** The morning was quite chilly here in Austin. Recruits and their parents parked well off campus and were shuttled to DKR and the coaches offices. On to the visitor notes: Shadow Creek is well-represented on campus with prospects like Texas LB commit Anthony Williams, 2025 CB Cobey Sellers, and the expected arrival of 2025 WR
