No. 7 Texas vs. No. 2 Tennessee in Round of 32

The No. 7 seed Texas Longhorns (21-12) beat Colorado State Thursday night to advance to the Round of 32 for a third consecutive season. That's a program first since 2009.

Rodney Terry and Longhorns will face a very familiar coach in the Round of 32, Rick Barnes.

No. 2 seed Tennessee (25-8) beat up on a bad Saint Peter's offensive team Thursday night to the tune of 83-49.

No. 7 Texas and No. 2 Tennessee will tip off at 7 p.m. central Saturday night in front of a national television audience on CBS.

You’re still crying? Not everybody is a complete homer like you, Pumpkin. Get off of this board and lift some weights or something to get your skin tougher 😂🥲

Pumpkin. Lulz your insults are very lame. Why does Terry succeeding hurt you so much? You are on a Texas board, yet, want the team to do poorly.

Yea, Pumpkin because you’re in your feelings more than my teenage daughter.

A$M looked really good. Smoked Nebraska with 13 3’s and 50 percent shooting.

They play UH to a 4 point game earlier in the year. Shead better play all world like he did on Texas.

That A&M win is part of what makes March Madness just that ... the Aggies are 343rd out of 351 teams in three-point shooting in the country ... 28.4% on the season!

I'd take Barnes over Terry.

Aggy was cookin last night.  Their offense is basically just 1v1 and hope to get hot or go to the foul line.  We’ll see what types of refs they get in that Houston game.  If it’s a tightly called game could see an upset.

They had a great game earlier this season. Going to be a war with UH missing Tuggler and a hobbled Roberts.

For sure. UH will go down in this tournament

See if A&M can shoot it well from three again

I am not sure the new portal era is a good thing for a Self. He's used to building his program with 2-4 year guys. He went to the portal big time last year, and this was likely the worst team he's had since the back to back 1st round upsets. He's likely going to have to completely rebuild through the portal next year as well. McCullar, Dickinson, and Furphy are likely done.

Something I miss Texas having, are the 6'6"-6'9" wing/forwards that Rick could recruit in spades. Boddicker, Thomas, Buckman, James, and Johnson. I am jealous of of San Diego State having Ledee. That dude is a brick wall. Sad, he's from Houston too.

Disu probably could have been another one of those guys if he had ever been healthy enough to put on lean muscle during the offseason(s).

Tyrese Hunter, SmH.  Unbelievable.

Abmas and Hunter.  About the worst any backcourt in America has played this year.

Rodney Terry has no clue what's going on, much less how to stop Tennessee or help his team score.

Team is fighting their asses off right now. Don't know if they have enough to pull it out, but what an effort.

That is true.  Seems like they are so timid.

Brock taking one for the team.

Need to draw up a play heading to the basket or get Abmas open from 3.

RT is a moron. There was zero reason to foul and give Tenn free throws. Absolutely stupid. Make them make a shot. Not like Tenn had been on fire shooting the ball. So freaking stupid.

Good effort, too many TOs from Hunter and another cold shooting night from both Abmas and Disu.

Creighton or Oregon will beat Tennessee, not enough shot makers to make it much further.

Didn't make enough adjustments and them lacking a big man in the paint hurt.

Watched the Iowa women's game and Bluder made adjustments and played big in the paint and not speed made the difference and got their rhythm going.

And to think we’ve got at least another year of that.

Texas gave it a run and didn’t quit. I wasn’t overly impressed with Tennessee. Texas is a very flawed team that didn’t play well and still had a chance.

Proud of the guys for fighting like they did. The SEC knows Texas will be a tough out in the league. This was their champion and Texas gave them everything they wanted on a neutral floor.

I really like Rick Barnes as a person and representative of the university and I'd take Barnes success.

...but tonight reminded me why so many people were ready for Barnes to leave.  His brand of basketball is UGLY and he's only one assertive officiating crew away from a loss on most nights.

I remember lots of spirited conversations with Barnes detractors back in the day - the most knowledgable and informed of those detractors being @Gerry Hamilton.
