HOOK ‘EM! OT Jonte Newman Commits to Texas

Hook ‘Em!

From College Station to Austin!

Texas lands former Texas A&M freshman offensive tackle Jonte Newman out of the transfer portal.

Newman, originally out of Bridgeland High in Cypress, Texas, makes the move from the Aggies to the Longhorns after just one year. Newman had committed to the Aggies pretty early in his recruitment after being pursued heavily by Texas and many others.

Now, Kyle Flood and Steve Sarkisian get an additional offensive tackle piece for the depth of the offensive line with a very toolsy option.

My aggy friends are laughing about this one. This makes zero sense.

Your aggy friends also worship a bunch of dead dogs and are in a cult led by a guy named Billy. So…

It actually makes sense. Coaching staff put values on our OL depth and several did not believe in said value or path to field, so they transferred.

This kid likely has a better handle on his actual value, knows he'll be depth in 2026, and is willing to wait. There also the added possibility he hated living in B/CS which would be no surprise and only add to his desire to transfer.

Put him in the aggy game next year for Texas' kneel down.

I don’t suspect this changes the pursuit for Texas on the OL when it comes the kid from Maryland or Louisville.

It definitely won’t change anything for Jordan Seaton.

CJ, what is the real reason for him leaving  A&M?

I see him training as the swing tackle, but I would definitely consider cross training him at guard as well.

CJ, do you think he will play significant minutes at Texas next year?

Did A&M try to keep him?

There are OLinemen visiting tomorrow. Texas is setting up for now and for 2027. Just need two more, a LB, safety, and a edge.

Lost me at aggy friends. Get better friends.  Those people are not our friends.

The jackson St. OL sounds intriguing, the other kid from Quanticha Bapist sounds interesting as well pay less develop depth and competition at guard and right tackle. Plus, looking to next year when you have to spend for wr.
