9-3 Texas CFP Scenario

Featured Replies

A lot of positive things happened for Texas today.

As I see it, we need Texas to go 2-1 of the remaining 3 games and have the following happen to likely secure Texas a spot as the 5th SEC team.

1. USC loses to Oregon

2. Michigan loses to Ohio St

3. Oklahoma loses to Alabama

4. Vanderbilt loses to Tennessee

Or go 10-2 and remove all doubt.

Well yes, but this post is assuming Texas goes 9-3.

We need Cincinnati to knock off BYU so BYu doesn’t have me regular season with 1 loss.  If you have 2 - 1 loss big 12 teams playing in the big 12 championship I could possibly see a 2 loss looser of big 12 getting in.

I agree that makes it more likely. I just dont see BYU getting much respect at all after today's performance.

Not if BYU gets waxed by Tech again and Texas ends the season beating #3 or #2 TAMU

Two loss teams may get left out for a 9-3 Texas team. If the committee wants to incentivize big non conference games then they will have to leave out BS crap schools

Correct, but I would clarify that two loss Regular season teams will get left out for a 9-3 Texas team.  I’m not as confident that an 11-1 regular season team that Loses in their conference championship game will fall below a 9-3 Texas.

This mainly applies to a possible 11-1 BYU making the B12 CG and losing to a top 5-6 Tech team again.

This is correct. The committee indicated this with quite a few 2 loss teams over current 1 loss teams in the ACC.

If Cincinnati wins out, they'll be the 2 seed for the Big 12 Championship. Then we want Tech to win big. That will be enough to keep BYU and Cincinnati out of the CFP.

Cincinnati has 2 losses already I believe?  Don't think a 2 loss big 12 team gets in unless they win the championship.

Agreed, that’s why Tech needs to win

We need OU and USC to lose to help this scenario.
