Far be it from me to extrapolate Dan Neil's thoughts, but I think he is saying we aren't very quick off the ball.   And, I agree.  We just don't get off the ball quick enough.  But I stick with my basic hypothesis, "paralysis by analysis".  Once we trust our assignments, the quickness and power will come.  Quick big is better that quick small.  We do execute in small batches, but then regress.  My suggestion for all the offense is just shut your brain down and go play......  easier said than done.

I think the biggest issue is expecting guys like Neto in year 4 to be a better option than an experienced player out of the portal. I don’t get how you watch him in practice for 4 years and expect him to start and a week before the season starts he gets beat out by someone who also isn’t ready to contribute. 

As much as it’s been discussed, I don’t think there’s any scheme changes or changes in play calling that will make this a playoff team. The rest of this season is more about evaluating players and coaches. Changes are needed and a real GM might be a good place to start.
