Traveling Squad Cuts | Florida Game

Wanted to keep a running count of which Longhorns did and did not make the 74-man cut for the trip to Gainesville this weekend.

As of this morning, OTF can confirm the following did not make the trip for the Florida game.

  • QB Trey Owens
  • RB Rickey Stewart
  • WR Michael Terry III

OTF will update the thread as new information arrives.

Despite being ruled OUT, CJ Baxter did make the trip to Florida for the game in his home state.

Injured players who are declared out ahead of Gametime are able to travel without counting towards the 74.

Have to assume Trey has moved on as it were.

It’s been known since summer

I was hoping that we would get to see Trey play because he looked so good in that scrimmage before.  However, there must have been something lacking or not up to snuff for Sark to get to this point where he does not even travel and appears to have 2 other guys between him and Arch.  I hope he gets to a program where he can start.

Unfortunately it appears that may be the direction it’s heading

When Lacey played against SHS and Owens did not, you could put Owens to the Portal in stone

Anyone know what's going on with Stewart? He wasn't dressed out two weeks ago.

Heard he is so undersized that a redshirt was inevitable

Stewart is a Wisner type back that has five guys ahead of him. Taking a year to build some armor and recuperate from three years of heavy usage in high school is a no brainer.

Sure, but is that what's happening? Like I said he wasn't dressed for the SHSU game, and he's not even travelling to this one even with our RB injuries.

RB room needs an influx of change agents. Starting with Cooper. Wisner has done a hero’s job of filling in as an RB1 but it’s time to get RBU back to our standard.

At this point I am beginning if we ever see him in a Texas uniform.

Doghouse?

I would imagine the biggest issue is that he's about 5'9" 185 lbs., and not exactly a speedster.

Players who plan on redshirting typically do things like attend games and stand on the sidelines with their uniform on.

Think he’s already transferring?! Are we surprised that Terry isn’t traveling?

Probably prioritizing other positions for depth

I heard that his locker has been cleared out.
