Littleton looked impressive.

There’s lots of positives but the woes will override those by 99.9% of the fan base. 

Some positives from me:

Rushing for 166 yards on 4.5 ypc while holding them to 77 on 2.3 ypc bodes very well. Also, it’s not like Sayin ripped us apart. 126 yards through the air against the best WR room in the nation. Held the best offensive player in the country to under 50. 200 total yards. This is championship D. The offense will come together with time. If we are able to stop the run like THAT against OSU, I really think we could be special this year. 

Running game was more than competent. A big improvement from the last game.  Baxter looked healthy. Punter is nails.

Was thinking the same!

Everything was good enough - with the exceptions of Sark and Arch 

Definitely some big positives:

1. Run D was impressive for the most part.

2. Only 1 big play given up.  Guilbeau may be replaced by Black/Phillips before too much longer.

3. Offensive line was the best my eyes have seen in a long time for Texas. Arch wasn't under pressure for most of the game and opened good lanes for running.

4. Punter may be the second coming of Dickson.

 

Some big concerns:

1. Arch not accurate at all for much of the game, especially the short and intermediate.

2. Receivers struggled mightily getting open for much of the game.

3. Not seeing much in terms of a true game breaker on the team.  There's no one that looks like they can just take off and score at any time.

Defense and punting was elite 

Texas will be a much better team in 8 weeks.

I am still very excited about this season and the prospects for a national championship.

Once Arch settles down, becomes a game manager and works on his footwork for to improve his accuracy the offence will be fine.

Was just going to write basically this. I’m a little less harsh on Gilbeau. Sometimes the other guy makes a play.  I’ll add some positives-

Endries looked good. 

Baxter looked healthy. With him Wisner and the OL, this could end up being a really good running team. 

No injuries that I know of.

Maybe sark approaches the portal differently. Recievers couldn’t get separation and when they did arch missed and if he didn’t miss the ball was dropped. I thought wingo has sure fire hands ? That drop on the 3rd down was critical. Third year in a row with an elite defense and mediocre offense to go with it. At this point Texas ought to kick a field goal on first down as soon as they enter the red zone. 

On another positive note, as least we aren’t OU, who managed 35 points against mighty Illinois State while losing the rushing battle and only rushing for 3.2 YPC. And at least we aren’t A&M, who are allowing 6x more rushing yards (180+) while only rushing for 3.2 YPC at home against UTSA. We might have a LOT to figure out this year, but we stubbed our toe on the road in week 1 against the reigning national champs. I look forward to meeting each of our rivals in coming weeks, each of whom appear to have bigger problems (running the ball, stopping the run).

I just realized we still don’t know if we have a kicker that can make a field goal when needed.

Good thing about this, Arch realized that  he has to stay one more year to learn 🤘🏼

Gracen Littleton was not just good.  He was good against the best player in college football.  What does that make him.   Little early, but Jadae 2.0 ??

Maybe more in a few years.  Graceson was spectacular in my eyes.  Not one hint of intimidation nor confusion.
