For one final time this weekend, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian will meet with the media to discuss the opening game of the season on Saturday against Ohio State.

The Longhorns and Buckeyes kickoff at 11:00 a.m.

 

We're officially under 48 hours to go until kickoff.

Sarkisian should get going in the next five minutes or so.

"From our perspective, a really good week of work for our players."

"It's been a tough week," Sark said. "We made it difficult on them, especially the front end of the week."

Texas will lean into the history and leadership of the guys in the locker room who've been in games like this before.

Plenty of praise for Lee Corse and the College Gameday team from Sark.

Sark says the biggest thing for Arch pregame is to stay true to his routine. 

Body language and demeanor will be key in preparations.

"I think the biggest thing is him staying true to his routine," Sark said of what he needs to see from Arch Manning before the game to know that he's ready to go.

Sarkisian says he has depth on this Texas team that mirrors some of the better teams he was a part of.

Also mentions the personality and leadership of this team helps drive the competitiveness and drive of the unit.

Great defense, depth and leadership are things Sark believes this Texas squad has in common with the other elite teams he's been a part of as a coach.

Sark said there was a sense of confidence the Longhorns had in practice today.

Again, Sark says the team's work this week was great.

Energy and speed in which the team operated with was to Sark's liking and there is a growing confidence from the team itself.

Sark: "I love this opportunity for us."

Sark: "It all has to unfold for the season, but we've earned this. We've earned this opportunity... Let's go perform."

Sark asked if Mason Shipley will be kicking field goals and who will be returning punts.

Sark: "Did I issue you guys a depth chart? Then I don't need to answer that."

"About as good as you can expect," Sark said of where Texas is from an injury standpoint.

Other than Emmett Mosley's lingering injury, Sark didn't mention anything else regarding injury concerns for Saturday.

Sark on the team's confidence/looseness before the game: "We should've instilled enough belief in them that they should be able to perform."
