Texas is the 4th Most Talented Roster Heading into the 2025 College Football Season

Featured Replies

Comparing this to previous years, this is further proof the talent gap between Texas and the top programs in college football is closing.  If you sort by player average, Texas is #2 on this list.  These rankings don't tell the entire story, but it is a testament to the job Sark and his staff have done turning this roster around since they arrived.  Just need to add some more hardware to the trophy case.

Since 2022 Texas hasn’t been out of the top 6.  We were 4th last year too.  Talent hasn’t been the issue, just need to get over the hump.

Not a totally fair comparison of talent when you consider guys like taaffe, tre moore, tre wisner, jack endries and brad spence are not blue chip recruits on this list.  We should be top 2 at worst

I agree, but if you sort that list by average, they are #2 behind Georgia.  That sounds about right.  What I find the most interesting about this list is two of the top picks to win the natty, Penn State and Clemson, are just inside the top 10.  They're going the Michigan route by trying to win with experienced rosters.

As I posted in a previous thread, when only comparing the players who will actually be playing this game, Texas has the slight talent advantage over Ohio State.

Huge year for deboer. He better make the playoffs. No excuse to lose to schools like Oklahoma and Vanderbilt this year.

I still believe in DeBoer. I believe I predicted Alabama to meet Texas in the SEC Championship Game this year.

And several blue chips don't pan out each class. For all schools. It all sorts out in the wash on these types of comparisons. Just take it for what it is. We have talent.
