AH could not keep the defense out of the backfield in the first half. It would have been easy to pack this one up in the 3rd. Bell never got frustrated. I think Texas has a baller.

I love that.  QBs that operate from consistently clean pockets don't show you everything on tape.   Manning operated behind a line that was less than adequate.  It looks like we have another that's a playmaker under duress. Gruntled.

Yup exactly what @Gerry Hamilton talks about all the time. Love to see HS QBs get pressure and see how they handle it. Love this note.

Stats ?

I recall 225 yards and 1 TD pass before the final drive. He had a ton of rushing yards off scrambles as well. 2 fumbles in the first half. The field was soaked from an hour long delay due to thunderstorms and Heritage was sloppy in the first half

That Heritage OL was basically a turnstile.

Felt bad for the St. Jo punter who rushed his kick after a bad snap resulting in the own block and winning field position for Bell’s team.

The number of penalties on his team, especially pre-snap, was infuriating. I kept getting pissed at the refs, and then they'd show the replay, and sure enough, penalty after penalty was justified. Bell was also getting immediate pressure as soon as the ball snapped. I think it just took them a while to settle into a rhythm and let the defensive line tire a little bit.

“ Doesn’t matter who makes the play, as long as the play is made.”    Dia Bell

I don't watch much high school football... only the Texas state championships in December.

I gave up on Dia Bell's team and checked out at halftime.

Saw the thread today... WOW! I had believed Bell was impressive based on past highlights and his OTF interview. Now I suppose he's off the charts.

As mentioned, since I don't watch high school games, a performance like Bell's reminds me how impressive the Longhorns coaches are in scouting and evaluating recruits. Congratulations to Dia Bell on the victory! And Hook 'Em, Dia!

Now THERE'S a word I haven't heard or read in a while and a half!

Me too. Hook 'Em!
