I’m thrilled to have 1 of the 4 stud LBs (Atkinson, Griffin, Rouse, Williams). I’m no evaluator so I was curious what the differences/traits were for all 4 players.

Also, I know Texas is staying on Rouse and Williams. Izayia just flipped his commitment yet again and that recruitment definitely won’t be over until signing day. Does the amount of flips impact Texas’s pursuit of him or give the staff any pause?

Atkinson is elite closing speed on the ball. Space player. Can play multiple spots

Griffin is an elite pass rushing LB off the edge 

Rouse is similar to Atkinson in terms of strengths 

Gerry - would be interested in your opinion what analysts get right and wrong the most with star ratings. For example, I think they get QB and edge right the most and stars don't matter for both lines of scrimmage. What positions are you most comfortable taking 3 stars for development?

I like taking traits on the offensive line for 3-star prospects. Texas has hit on plenty 3-star OL in previous years. 

You get a much longer developmental track to build frames and expand on the strengths of their traits.

Length, first step quickness and punch.

Obviously, the frame to grow into a #BigHuman is essential as well.

Does arm length or hand size come into the eval? Seems like a football IQ would come into play with the center. Or do our coaches value the things you listed more? Whatever our coaches are doing, the OL grades on the field seem to be speaking for themselves.

We keep saying this but we have no depth and 4 question marks heading into the wonder-kind’s first season as a starter. It’s all relative but Flood has gotten a pass in my opinion. It’s incredible that we have this line for that QB. I don’t want to hear how long they’ve been here. Very few meaningful snaps save for Goose. Well, DJ but he  hasn’t shown enough at this point to not be a question mark imho.

We’ll see but the last thing I expected was uncertainty at oline during the Arch period. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Kosi Okpala should be considered a stud linebacker as well so thay percentage should really be at 40% imho.

Max Wright fits this bill imo. Huge ball of clay into the machine.

Atkinson has a lot of Luke Keuchly/Ray Lewis to him. Intelligently insane.
