Flood said in “very few instances” does he not train tackles to play right and left tackle.

Trying to fit the run schemes to specific backs can make the offense easier to defend, Flood said. He added that Texas has “complete backs.”

“The closer you are to the ball, the tougher it is for a young player,” Flood said.

DJ Campbell is “super talented” and “super powerful,” Flood said. He added that Campbell can “do some special things” moving people off the ball.

Consistency is the key for Campbell, Flood said.

I asked Flood about 3rd quarter woes in the back half of the season in 2024.

Flood says there wasn’t one specific area that caused for tough quarters, but more how the game took on the life of its own.

Clark mentioned it when he was available. He said they saw a little bit of it in the spring and decided to move him there full-time in late June/early July.

Clark said it was easier for Spence to get on the field as an EDGE than at linebacker.

Very interesting. Would love to get your thoughts on that. He can clearly get after the QB.

Aren’t edge snaps already limited bc you don’t take Simmons off the field much at all? 
 

I assumed Burke and Simmons were the clear starters at DE
