BREAKING: Texas Reels In First Postseason Portal Prospect

Jim Schlossnagle and staff have reeled in their first portal commitment since the season ended.

On Wednesday the Longhorns hosted Wichita State INF Josh Livingston. The staff went right to work the moment he stepped on campus and secured a commitment from the incoming senior.

Last season Livingston hit .284 on the season, while adding 15 HRs.

Sources tell me that Livingston will play either first or third base, but could be considered for a DH role as well.

Solid pickup. Stats aren’t overly impressive but good. Would’ve liked more doubles and a 1,000 OPS. Probably more of a 1B but maybe dependent on where Borba plays?

Looks more like a backup to me and we definitely need depth.

We need a 1st baseman.

Definitely won’t be a backup, you hit 15 HR’s and almost 50 RBI’s with a .284 batting average. Kid has seen a lot of baseball, much needed at 1B/DH. He’s a vet.

That is what they said about Easton Winfield.  Also, Wichita State is in the American Conference.  Not a baseball powerhouse.

he should be right at home taking BP from our pitchers

He led the Shockers in Ks so he should definitely fit in with our hitters.

Texas needs infield depth, period. Livingston gives them another option for either of the corner infield positions.

Livingston's team rankings for the Shockers in 2025 (minimum of 2 PA/G or 75 percent of the team's games played):

— Third in batting average (.284)

— First in OPS (.958)

— First in home runs (15, the only Wichita State player with more than eight)

— First in RBI (48)

— First in total bases (117)

— First in slugging (.555)

— T-1 in walks (28)

— Second in OPB (.403)
