Key stats… UTSA strands three runners. Ā Texas, 14.

With runners in scoring position: UTSA: 6 of 10 (.600), Texas: 3-18 (.167).

Fielding errors: Texas: 2, UTSA: 0.

@Jeff HoweĀ when is the last time Texas has lost a regional in Austin? I honestly don't remember.

Ā

I can remember losing Supers to TCU and UC Irvine, but don't recall losing a Regional. I guess the last time I remember coming out of the "losers" bracket to win a regional was around 2002, when UH had that first round MLB ace (Brad Sullivan)?

UC Irvine was a regional loss. They had to play that one at Dell Diamond because Disch-Falk was under construction.

Pretty new to college baseball… how rare is it for a team in Texas current position to wind up advancing?

I think the number is 83% of the time, the team that starts 2-0 wins the regional.

This.Ā  There's a lot of pride on this team.Ā  They've gotten it done pretty much all year, they just have to get the bats off their shoulders.Ā  They are getting the setups, just not converting.Ā  That said, 7 runs should be enough to beat any team.

This team couldn’t make routine plays on ground balls, strikes out way too much and couldn’t lay down a bunt in a situational moment.

I wouldn’t bet on anything. We haven’t played well since the Aggy series.Ā

Ā UTSA was also the more hungry team. Very disappointing effort.Ā

Schloss said Riojas will getĀ the ball against K-State and they'll go from there.

I do not like this decision , If we can’t pitch Bing or walker or someone else not named ruger/grubbs. Ā We should pack it up. Ā You play to win the regional not for placement.

It’s not just tonight, unfortunately.Ā

Since we started SEC play Flores has been dog poop. Really has me missing Faltine.

They didn’t seem very hungry when they got down 6-1 the first 5 innings.

Texas lost that game for a number of reasons. Desire to win and ā€œhungerā€ don’t come in anywhere close to the top of the list.

Don't claim to be overly knowledgeable about baseball, but it seems like we should hit better with the athletes we have. Defense didn't exactly come up big either. Was that nerves, pressure or just baseball? We've been pretty good defensively this season. Hitting not so much. Season isn't over and the future is bright.

Just watched the postgame press conference. Haven't followed online Texas media closely until a couple years ago. Is Bohls intentionally a jerk or just stupid? He's gotta be at least 70, so it seems like it's the jerk deal. Schloss is shaking his head as Bohls asks Galvan a question. I just don't understand what he's doing.

Since SEC play started, this has not been a good hitting team and it has been carried by good pitching and timely hitting. Ā If you check the SEC team statistics UT is in the lower half or lower third of basically every offensive statistic and at or near the top in pitching statistics. Ā Losing Belyeu was a big loss. In that same period, most of the players’ hitting performances have gone down, particularly Gasparino and Flores. Ā Gaspo’s average has not gone down that much because it was already down by the time SEC play started and is similar to last yearr’s, but his strikeouts have gone back up again. Ā Flores is probably hitting about .170 since SEC play started, perhaps less. Ā Farmer seemed to have picked up some in the latter part of the year but was not a good replacement for Belyeu and Borba has never hit for average. Ā Jonah has been a surprise, but even he can’t replace Max at this point. Ā With Spencer going down, the once thin pitching staff has not recovered that well. Ā This all goes back to some of Schloss’ original comments about needing to improve the team’s depth. Ā This great run the team has been on is a testament to his overall coaching ability and a patchwork of just enough players and timely hitting to get this far. Ā Hook’em.

Bohls is an ass.

Agree to disagree. Also noted our errors on the field. We didn’t help ourselves clearly.Ā
