Several Texas players will be made available to the media Thursday morning following practice No. 14.

Texas practiced inside of DKR for its second to last session of the spring.

Fan Fest will take place Saturday morning with a practice preceding the festivities at DKR.

Unrelated but cool, Steve Sarkisian will throw out the first pitch on Friday of the Texas-Texas A&M series opener.

Jelani McDonald speaking first. 

McDonald says playing HS QB has helped make film study more fun. As he understands what everyone needs to be doing in their role on a given play.

Mcdonald says Jahdae Barron taught him to slow down the game and use his brain more than relying solely on athleticism. 

Jelani says he’s never had a coach like Duane Akina before, says the way he runs around in practice, throws footballs at DBs and just uses energizes the defense is awesome for the DB room. 

On Zelus Hicks, McDonald says he wants to learn and see the field this season. 

Says it pushes him each day to hold onto his spot in the safety room. 

McDonald says the young WRs are all good and are all competing for a spot in the rotation. 

LT Trevor Goosby up next. 

Goosby says Kelvin Banks has helped him a ton in his preparation as LT1. 

Says there will be pressure to be the guy but he’s prepared and credits Kyle Flood for prepping all of his guys to be ready to go. 

Goosby says the OL is “gelling” well together and that they’re playing with a chip on their shoulders after losing four starters from a year ago. 

Goosby says Sarkisian has been pitching for more juice out of the OL room. 

Goosby mentions playing hoops with guys like KJ Lacey, Aaron Butler and Jaime Ffrench at Gregory Gym to get the extra cardio and some run with new teammates.
