House Settlement

Featured Replies

The judge will NOT approve the House Settlement as currently written. She has issues with roster size. Sorry can’t copy X link since I refuse to give any money to Musk.

Given 14 days to rewrite that portion.

Any details on exactly what issues she has with roster numbers?

Can somebody break down the house settlement like they’re talking to a third grader 😂

we’ve done pretty well in the Wild West, would the settlement slow our role or would we adapt and overcome regardless?

All sports actually

“U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken signaled she is ready to approve the rest of the settlement but wants both sides to come up with a way to not harm current athletes who will lose their spots on teams. The settlement calls for scholarship limits to be replaced by roster limits.”

So it's delayed to protect .... walk-ons?  🤦‍♂️

That would be my understanding

I don’t see Texas going past 85 even with settlement. Fewer players to spend the allotment on gives you more money per player.

Most coaches are wanting to keep/protect walk ons

Here’s my non legal idea. First limit the number of years of eligibility to 5 with NO exceptions for all sports. Second allow all the walkons to remain on the rosters for remaining years of their 5 year eligibility rule. Make the suggested roster limits effective in five years when all the walkons eligibility has expired.

What size is Texas roster now, including walk-ons.

120 for football I think

Putting the genie back in the bottle will be damn near impossible. NCAA needs to go away. They do very little that's positive and have been stripped of any actual power.

This is accurate. They are cutting to 105.

And that appears to be why the judge has a problem with it... for the current members of football and other sports who would get shut out by the lower limits

Delayed to protect athletes already on scholarship, particularly athletes in non-revenue sports.
