You comment on every single basketball thread multiple times on this site and IT. Hell, probably OB and 247 too.

And you keep responding to it. Never asked you to respond to anything I said. And I can post what I want to post.

I'm interested in this NIL talk that keeps popping up here. Are the people saying this relatives of players who think they aren't getting enough? Texas obviously spent well in the portal this past offseason.

They were seventh in the SEC in spending. Mississippi State spent more.

I think a majority felt that under the conditions at the time, though not perfect, Terry deserved a shot after the way the team under his leadership pulled together making the Elite 8 after the coach's firing.  He was rewarded the opportunity for that and also because at the time there was no other sure thing coach available. This season is his make or break opportunity which appears to be revealing he is not the guy going forward.    I agree it has proven to be the wrong hire but I do not fault fellow fans who have tried to support the coach in the hope he could get it done.

Thank you.

You have a source for this?

On Will Wade - I assume the show cause order against him while he was at McNeese was the culmination of the LSU investigation.  I think that Order runs until some time in 2026 and might put a wet blanket on hiring him before then.

If any of you are more familiar with that scenario please chime in.

CDC could always refer to him as former Harvard coach Will Wade, of course.

Typically his past would not play much of a role now, because what he did is legal now. Considering Beard was arrested, I have to wonder if that makes CDC look elsewhere.

It comes from highly reputable reporter Chip Brown.

Yes sir. Chip and Eric on 247 reported it two weeks back I believe.

Eric backed it up as well. The general consensus before that was 4 or 4.5 million.

Maybe they have a ballpark for Texas (being generous) but absolutely zero chance they know what the rest of the SEC is spending.

They cited sources. I can’t post what they said here. Gerry and Bobby can certainly say it’s not true anytime they want. It included the entire SEC conference. Nobody has to believe it. I do believe it though.

Reported NIL figures are like that 2 lbs bass you caught that gets bigger and bigger with every story.

NIL is not an issue at Texas. Period. It's a coaching issue. With a better trajectory we'd spend plenty on NIL.

This is accurate because Texas doesn’t have an NIL problem if they believe in said coach. You can’t tell people where to spend their money. If folks believed in RT they would spend. His career record and the trajectory of the current program says they were right. Terry can change that narrative but time is running out.

You've never met our compliance dept have you?

Not saying that we will or won't try and hire him. Just saying if we did I don't think the show cause would be an issue.

Where do these numbers come from?

I seriously doubt Texas is as far behind in  NIL as we are on the court. But even if we are that far behind, that's a consequence of Terry inspiring zero confidence in and excitement about his program.

This is college sports in 2025. Part of the job is fundraising, just like recruiting was always part of the job. Coaching basketball is also part of the job. Overall Terry is not even close to getting it done and this program is easily the worst across all sports at UT.

If the rumors are true CDC had his sights set on Mark Few and was looking to happen until the elite 8 run.

Sean Miller was going to take the job

3.8 I believe.

Bear was getting 5ish at the beginning of NIL era. I bet he would be getting 6-8 now if he was still at Texas

Yep, agree 💯 Every sport at Texas was SEC ready except MBB. Nothing personal against RT, but we have to win. This is Texas. I don’t think CDC will hesitate to make a change, barring a miracle.

247 site reported them a few weeks back. I listed each team’s amounts here but that’s it. Can’t put another sites content here. Again, Gerry and Bobby are more than welcome to say they are not true. I will happily go along with what they say. Other than that, I do believe them.

If there is a change that coach will get more. He’s not coming here without it. If a coach comes here with what Texas currently spends on NIL, we will be right back here in two or three years.

I’m sure CDC knows it.

Texas just made 332M and spent 325M while making Big 12 money.

We are the jones (not to be mistaken for the twitter account that has gone unhinged on Texas twitter)

No crap the new coach will get more because the people who provide said money will be more enthused about the hire. Then it's up to said coach to prove it. If he doesn't prove it money will dwindle or stay stagnant again. If he proves it then money will grow.

RT has only RT to blame for the NIL amount he has.

The last line I agree with you on, but not for the reasons most of you think.

Actually, I set up a private chat for people who wanted to talk about the game in a meaningful fashion and avoid the nonstop Terry sucks stuff.  It was a very productive chat room.

FYI, FWIW, and WTH, we did also calmly discuss the likelihood Terry will be replaced at the end of the year.  We aren't blind to his faults, and we aren't happy with the state of the program.  We just get sick of endless coach bashing and refusal to discuss the limitations of the roster or what might be done to improve play and salvage the season.

I was saying back during the Auburn game that I didn't think Terry would return.  Without a metamorphosis in our play over the next few weeks, it seems inevitable.

If Kaluma is out for an extended period, then we are headed to the NIT, and I was always of the opinion Terry needed to not only make the tournament but win a game in it and demonstrate in other ways that the program is on track.

Well, we're not seeing the "other ways" part of that, and nothing about last night's performance gives me confidence we will win 4 of our final 6.  We could since the weakest part of our schedule starts after the Kentucky game, but I think it is unlikely.
