Hoops: College coaching carousel 2025

U T can do anything it sets its mind on... however, I think we need to hire the young up and coming coach from Division 2 or Historic Black College ranks. Someone who can spot and develop talent that others over look. We need someone with vision AND character. In other words... a winner.

  • No titles in there, but it's pretty hard to argue that 2001-02 to 2007-08  with a Final Four, two more Elite Eights, and two more Sweet Sixteens in a 7 year period were not glory days for our men's ba

Only if the buyout is reasonable is that truly a possibility.

He's probably the only guy that fits those criteria right now.

I guess Brownell isn't big enough of a name, but he has a buyout around 3.3M.

I’m perfectly fine with him but I don’t think he’d get to 7 mil or 8 mil.

Just got back from coon huntin all night. Treed three with my Walker hound Wolf. Reminded me listening to Jerry Clower.

By the way, Wolf is a twelve year old sired by Rat Attack. Bought him in northeast Arkansas as an eight week old pup. Treed his first coon at four months. Sound of music.

Capel was signed to an extension last spring to keep him in Pittsburgh through 2029-30 season, so I guess he's safe despite Pitt taking a big step backward this year and him having made just one NCAA tournament in 7 years.

Unless the Pitt AD decides to drop an overdosed hooker in Capel's hotel room tonight or something.

Adrian Autry just avoiding being denied the 3 years to get it done rule, as Syracuse managed to not quite blow a 16 point second half lead against Florida State.

I guess FSU will go to the NIT, so Hamilton's career isn't quite over yet, but we have to wait at least one more day for a final word on whether Autry gets another year at Syracuse.

The funny thing is that while Boh-HEEM had a couple of Sweet Sixteens in his last 8 years at Syracuse, he had a .500 conference record in his last 9 years in the ACC, so it isn't like Autry inherited some kind of juggernaut.

Great day coming. The last game of the Rodney Terry era at Texas around 4 pm . No hate  just a bad hire . Good luck elsewhere.

Let the new era begin 🤘

Anyone with a college opening could do worse than Brownell as a pure basketball coach IMO.

He's solid.

I agree. Not sure he makes sense for the top jobs but purely as a coach he’s really good. Clemson being as good as they are under him, with completely undervalued and under recruited guys, says a lot. I think he’s perfect for a job like Clemson where he won’t land top guys but can develop under the radar ones.

If this were 20 years ago, I would agree with you on Billy Donovan.  Quin Snyder doesn’t move the needle that much imo.  Snyder is only mentioned because he has a house in Austin.

Billy Donovan would be a great hire. Much better than Snyder.

And his last three years have been his best consecutive three. He has proved he can put together a team and coach it at a high level.

Coached the Austin Toros for three years.

Only concern is Texas fans have no patience. It could take some time to get going. Of course the portal wasn’t around when he started at Clemson.
