Hearing all the Ivey talk reminds me of all the Shanahan talk when we have a football opening

Just a matter of time until someone hires a high profile HC from the women’s basketball to coach men’s basketball.

Becky Hammon's name was kicked around here when we were talking about a replacement for Smart before it was obvious Beard would come here.

Well, not here, because here didn't exist then, but you know what I mean.

@Gerry Hamilton do you think CDC still lets next couple weeks play out or will he pull the trigger next week re: RT?   Was South Carolina debacle the final straw regardless of what happens in remainder of season?

With other programs expected to make a change in head coach, is there a big advantage formally starting search in the next week rather than waiting for season to officially conclude?

If Terry gets fired mid-season, then one of his assistants takes over or the whole staff is replaced and Tre Johnson quits to spend the rest of the spring in private workouts with NBA guys, and everyone else quits, and we wind up playing cheerleaders and guys who show up to walk-on tryouts.  Frank Haith is #2.  You want Frank Haith coaching?

Just put to rest the idea that we're changing coaches before the season is over.

But I have little doubt about the word probably already being out to coaches in search of a promotion that Austin will be hiring.

Just think of all the stuff we're hearing about Wade right now.

I would have laughed at Royal Ivy a few years ago but he’s one of the best NBA assistants and he did a damn good job as the HC for South Sudan.

You can probably get him for cheap. Get Ivy and bump the NIL up to 5/6 for a few years and see what happens

Gerry mentioned him earlier. Having an interim coach become a head coach rarely works. Coming from the NBA to college rarely works. Does CDC make a second straight risky hire? He checks a lot of boxes, but that’s my biggest concern.

Apparently IU's ideal coaching hire is a calmer fanbase.

My current college coaching list … at 4.5-5 mill a year salary and 4 mill NIL commitment

TJ Otzelberger

Brad Brownell

Mick Cronin - don’t love the style, but results are there

Doug McDermott - tremendous offensive coach

Sean Miller

***Guys like:

Tommy Lloyd

Todd Golden
Pat Kelsey

Are at better jobs and will all be making 5-6 mill a year in short order with solid NIL backing

Grant McCaslin (Tremendous coach) will go to Baylor if Scott Drew is the pick at Indiana

It seems as though it's up to the school to make the financial commitment that the AD says will bring the success he expects.

Edit: FWIW, Cronin's buyout is $16 mil. It drops to $10 mil at some point in April.

Kind of saw this one coming.  I felt that the Utah-UCF game was going to be an elimination game for head coaches.  UCF might wait another year until it gets full Big 12 money to move on from Dawkins.

Smith was the first of three successive Utah State coaches who moved on to new jobs in a three year period.  He was followed by Odom, who went to VCU, and Sprinkle, who went to Washington.  Kind of amazing that Utah State is on the bubble this year when it it on its fourth coach in 5 years.

I'm going to hate it if Utah grabs an up and coming coach and takes over the world.

How lucky for Josh Eilert to get his second interim head coaching tag in 20 months.

For a fanbase and program that needs to be re-energized, an almost 60-year-old Quin Snyder, who hasn't coached in college since 2006, probably isn't moving the needle.

He already makes $8M a year in the NBA.  I mean, wtf?

I don't know if the articles' writers really know anything about the Utah opening, but I find it interesting that many of them seem to think one of several NBA assistant coaches would be the way to go.

Just because of this, he's probably not a fit for Texas, and I would definitely consider him.

Yeah his outburst the past couple of years seems misplaced. I don't think he'd be the best fit either. Love his energy just wish he'd put out more positive energy.
