Sources have told OTF that Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu took an unexpected visit to campus over the weekend. He arrived in Austin on Saturday evening and remained on campus through Sunday.

He recently entered the portal and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

A highly coveted four-star recruit out of Santa Margarita Catholic High School (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), Kanu originally chose the Buckeyes over the likes of Georgia, Alabama, OU, Notre Dame and more.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder posted 14 tackles and a sack over his last two seasons in Columbus.

He is originally from Germany, where he was a standout soccer player, but moved to the U.S. in 2020.

This is good news if he enters the portal and makes a bee line to Texas, also any idea if Coach Laallen Clark was with him? Love his resume and the idea of him coaching and recruiting for Texas

He might need to hit the buffet a few times at 305

More of a 3 tech or 4 tech.

We already have two 1 techs or big body DT in Brevard and Shaw. January can play both

He can but 310-315 fits us better imo, which would be very realistic for him in the offseason

Was told he is expected at Texas A&M tomorrow as well.

That would mean Florida and A&M are both expecting him tomorrow, and per 247 he’s on a flight to Florida from Austin right now.

Busy kid.

Disregard. Kanu is not expected at A&M Tomorrow.

They literally cannot stop losing to us

That’s easy, I never regarded A&M in the first place.

I get that we need bodies in the DT room, but serious question: is he even that good? Seems like Buckeye fans aren’t that upset by his departure.

We are going to make up for a lack of elite DTs by lining them up in a stack of four.

Hopefully, he can be a good starter at 3T until Terry fills out.
