Looking at who we have on the roster already & who we have coming in with the number 1 rated class, combined with the way the defense played this year, I think we have the makings of resembling Georgia’s dominant 2021 defense.

I’m going to go out on a limb here & say we may have even more pieces to work with than Georgia had. Of course, the players will have to put in the work & develop, but that’s not as crazy as it may sound.

Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter & Devonte Wyatt could easily be a combo of Alex January, Justus Terry, Myron Charles & Josiah Sharma.

Nakobe Dean, Quay Walker & Channing Tindall could easily be Anthony Hill (if he stays until senior year), Tyanthony Smith & Bo Barnes.

Nolan Smith & Travon Walker could easily be Colin Simmons & Lance Jackson (we’re better here).

Kelee Ringo, Latavious Brini, Lewis Cine, Chris Smith & Tykee Smith could easily be Manny Muhammad (if he stays), Jelani McDonald/Derek Williams, Wardell Mack, Filsaime/Jonah Williams/Zelus Hicks, & Kobe Black.

There are some big ifs in there in regards to development but there are also a ton of sure fire stars already. The future of the defense is very promising.

The only way Anthony Hill is here as a senior is if he misses the bulk of next season with injury or plays significantly worse in his junior season. We should of course be rooting against either of those situations.

If the DT situation works out well for us next year, I could easily see our front 7 being better (LBs and DEs should be better next year, especially if we retain Moore). 
 

Seems like the biggest concern on defense will be making up defensive playmaking of Barron and Makuba. We have recruited very well at DB, so hope that won’t be too big of an issue.

Agreed! Yea I doubt Hill is here that long so that was wishful thinking lol. And yea this defensive picture would be for 2 years down the line because all of those guys I mentioned with the exception of Hill & Muhammad would be juniors & sophomores. The way we’re playing & developing, I don’t expect to have too many guys stay until their senior seasons if they’re starting & producing, with the exception being like you said injury or late bloomers.
