This is pretty spot on making fun of these stupid redirects or attempts at subterfuges by these kids. I don’t remember anyone doing this in my day (early 2000s). We had signing ceremonies sure, but it was some attempt to drive up drama. 

Just sign it and go about the rest of your day with some professionalism...Could you imagine doing that for a job?
