Greg McElroy literally said the committee “went down a rabbit hole on prioritizing win-loss records that they were too far down the rabbit hole to put 9-3 Bama in over 11-2 SMU”

These analysts need a reset. Let’s get back to the basics. This is about wins and losses, ultimately. This FPI, SOS, SOR, etc. crap is really for the birds. In the age of the 12 team playoff, these acronym arguments are for the teams Bama that know they screwed up by losing too many games.

Booger McFarland said “we know what it’s like in the SEC and Big10, but that’s difficult to quantify and to have others appreciate”. It’s difficult to quantify because it’s an OPINION. Just win. Jesus Christ

 

If it is only abouts wins and losses, then Oregon would be crowned champ and we would skip the playoffs.  If is only about wins and losses and conference championships, then Oregon and BSU or ND get a bye while Georgia, ASU, Clemson, and ND or BSU play for spots in the semis.

  Occasionally teams with a gaudy record against inferior competition play well in cfp games.  Usually they don't.

I don't think Alabama should have been passed over because of 3 losses in the SEC.  I think it should have been passed over because it lost by 21 to OU.

But I suspect SMU would have played near .500 with an average schedule in the SEC.
