Both Kirby Smart and Steve Sarkisian will speak for roughly 20 minutes or so with SEC reporters in regards to the SEC Championship Game and what is at stake as the postseason begins.

The Longhorns and Bulldogs will face off in Atlanta on December 7th.

Kirby Smart: "Texas is a super quality team... Their team has navigated the SEC really well."

Smart says Texas is extremely big and physical on both trenches.

Smart says he was worried a month and a half ago and is worried now about the scheme and talent the Longhorns possess.

Smart says it is an extreme honor to make this game with the schedule teams have to go through in the SEC on a yearly basis.

"We put the years of an SEC Championship on the walls, and they are there forever."

 

On CB Julian Humphrey – "We are worried about the guys that are here." Humphrey announced he would enter the portal.

Smart says Texas has major disruption and size on the DL.

Smart said he thought the Texas "offensive line was elite last night" vs. Texas A&M against what might be the best DL in the conference.

Smart says he doesn't see much of an identity change with the Texas offense. Added the running game has added a level of physicality and the offensive line has improved.

"They have a great passer and great wideouts." Added Texas has

"Their tight end is playing as one of the best in the country."

When asked about what needs to be cleaned up on his team, Kirby Smart said "the list is too long."

Smart says he didn't think UGA ran the ball well vs. Texas the first time around.

"There is a lot of work to be done on our side this time around."

Smart says the key to facing a team twice is to not overthink what you do well.

"We have to play better than we have been playing, because Texas is a really good team." – Kirby Smart.

Georgia HC Kirby Smart says he has not had any conversations with or about CB Julian Humphrey, who announced his intent to portal Sunday morning.

Absolutely will. It's one of his best qualities as a head coach imo.

Texas will be the home team in the SEC Championship Game.

"This is a heck of an honor" Says Sarkisian.

"What Kirby has done at Georgia over the last nine years has been incredible... This will obviously be a heck of a challenge, going to Atlanta and competing against them." – Sark.

Sarkisian says there were things in the A&M game that went the way he didn't like – missed FG, blocked punt, red zone miscues.

Sarkisian says about a month ago, there was an added emphasis to cleaning up the running game. Closing down on penalties, finding the rhythm and figuring out schemes that work consistently.

 

Sarkisian says he didn't think the moment was ever too big for Trevor Goosby stepping in for the injured Banks. Added he was really proud of him stepping into the role.

Sarkisian lists a couple reasons for the improved play of the seconadry so far this season. 

1. Jahdae Barron returning to play CB and moving around in the secondary.

2. The hiring of Johnny Nansen

3. The Addition of Andrew Mukuba

4. The development of that group which has turned into a veteran position with the core group (Taaffe, Barron, Mukuba, Muhammad)

If I’m a lineman and QE, I’m taking last Georgia game and this one personally. They were embarrassed and they need to play for not only the team but their pride. They should be angry about the last game.

Incredible.  Are we living on borrowed time, or is Trevor actually that good?
