Some of y'all haven't followed recruiting more than 5 minutes, and it is really showing.

the trolls always show themselves on these type of threads...it's to be expected

I'm pretty even keeled about the ups and downs of recruiting. But if Gerry shows this concern then I take notice. As I know he is damn good at what he does, and his instincts. Wednesday can't get here soon enough ha!

Trust our coaches...believe we will pivot if we lose him to others. Also will be aggressive in portal

You do know the portal is a lot more expensive for quality upper tier DT's right?

I would love to have a talent like Charles in the class but he’s always been quite flighty. Be interesting to see how his career plays out.

You can’t hope and expect to get tackles in the portal after losing DT recruiting battles.

At some point we are going to need to be more aggressive in our NIL at this spot. We just are. If you want to compete at the highest level this is the spot.

Texas shouldn’t get outgunned anyway for guys they want Not in the NIL age.

Money isn’t a problem at Texas. We can afford to “overpay “

Exactly. This is the ONE position Texas isn’t stacking. You can’t be late 2010s Georgia/Bama if you don’t stockpile DL.

I hope Charles reconsiders and sticks with Texas but it's too early to panic. I never would have expected Jermayne Lole to be as valuable and cost effective as he's been when many would have preferred to overpay for guys like Bear Alexander prior.

Trust the process and trust in Sark! 🤘

This is the stuff that you have to tolerate with OOS recruiting. Everyone is working against you to keep kids home.

Also I tend to think on the positive side of things in recruiting.

Maybe he heard that Terry is 🤫 and doesn't want to compete with that

I mean we did just land Mbatchou, who was previously in the Florida class so there’s a need there. If we keep Sharma & Mbatchou in the class (extremely likely) then we’re still in a strong spot. I think we get two more DL commits before/on signing day & then portal another couple. I’m not worried, even though the loss sucks.

It’s pretty simple in DL recruiting especially in the southeast. Decisions are made almost entirely around NIL. The programs who push all their chips into DL recruiting in the final weeks before signing day get the top guys. The ones who don’t go all in don’t get the must have dudes. Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, and now seemingly Florida understand this.

That’s my frustration in basketball, but at least Texas is being consistent in all sports.

Who doesn’t want to come be a part of THIS?!?!!

Kids with greedy agents lol

At a certain point, a guy has to want to be a Longhorn, and if they don’t, then fine, go elsewhere. We want guys who want to be here, not guys we just won the bidding for.
