Oscar Giles is returning to the state of Texas to coach defensive line.

Houston officially announces the hiring of former Texas defensive line coach Oscar Giles Monday afternoon.

Giles was with the Longhorns prior to the hiring of Bo Davis when Steve Sarkisian arrived in 2021. There is familiarity here with the area of recruiting, specifically in the Houston area where he will now be calling H-Town home.

The defensive line is an important position in the 2025 cycle and it could get much cloudier with the emergence of Giles to the region.

Not a good thing for Texas as it has been all of his recruits being drafted on the DL since Sarkisian was hired at Texas.

Hope Baker has his big boy recruiting pants on. More in state competition.

Don't think Texas really competes much against Houston in recruiting.

Which 5 ⭐ DL did Herman sign at Houston?

While I am happy for a Lifetime Longhorn to get back to our beloved state, I do worry (at least a little) about recruiting against him. Of course I know UT vs UH recruiting is not on par.

Ed Oliver but that was primarily because Corby Meekins was Ed's HS coach and went to Houston as an assistant.

Also playing with his older brother Marcus Oliver was a huge plus for Houston
