A big development in college hoops

Featured Replies

Intentionally coaching basketball to be played at a very slow pace is unhealthy, obviously.

Seriously, I hope he is OK.

Will wait for official word, but one would have to say health related in some capacity

This same guy followed up and said it’s not health related.

If it’s not health related, then why does he do this?

Really bad look, but you have to presume he did it to setup one of his guys to get the gig.

When quality coaches like Tony Bennett and others are getting out of college athletics

Tony Bennett at UVA won 6 regular season ACC titles, at one point won 10 games in a row from UNC, held Pitt to 7 points in one half , won a National Championship and was 2x National Coach of the Year.

When he was at Washington State for a few years he won at a school that has almost high school facilities.

He got his teams there to a 3rd and 4th seed and was named National Coach of the Year , at WSU

Pretty wild the timing for this one ... I understand it from his perspective at UVA

Bennett knew he wanted to do this in early summer, but he also felt like he could maybe stick it out a bit longer. He hired his friend Sanchez and then tried to see if he could keep going. He couldn't. He's tired of the grind. He wants more time with his family in the non-Urban Meyer way. He knew this a few weeks ago. He waited and timed it up so UVA has to promote Sanchez. Nice and tidy.

Bennett's a great dude. I am jealous of him.
