Texas HC Steve Sarkisian speaking with the media Monday after the win over UTSA.

QB Quinn Ewers would be listed as "questionable" says Steve Sarkisian. Sark says Texas will monitor Ewers on a day to day basis.

Sarkisian says Colin Simmons has steadily improved his craft each week.

"Clearly he is an impactful player when he gets to rush the passer."

Sarkisian says the depth was on display once again on Saturday.

Texas played 77 players with six receiving a TD, 28 recording a tackles and 9 ball carriers.

On being No. 1: "Because of the 12-team playoff, it really doesn't matter."

"The mission is far, far from over."

Sarkisian says his locker room is not talking about the rankings, they are focused on the week ahead.

Steve Sarkisian credits Arch Manning for being just a member of the team for Texas. Says there is nothing that they need to address because of who he is or who his family members are. Arch is a normal dude who wants to see the team succeed says Sarkisian.

Ewers remains locked in even when on the sideline says Sarkisian. 

Says he will be diligent with his recovery and get back on the field as soon as he is healthy.

Sarkisian says the addition of Johnny Nansen has been helpful with bouncing ideas off of PK.

The defense is attacking the football very well right now.

"I don't remember our guys celebrating the way they are celebrating each other right now."

On Ryan Wingo: He has such a unique skillset – size, speed, skillset.

Sarkisian says he has a tremendous amount of humility and has been working hard each and every practice.

Sark says the defense was frustrated that the season point total has risen to 19. Says they believe it should still be at 12 due to a bust in coverage and a misfit on the big run play.

Sarkisian says the No. 1 ranking was where he was anticipating being when he took the job. The message has been consistent and there won't be a change to the formula now that Texas is receiving national acclaim from the rankings..

Texas RB Jaydon Blue "is making good progress." Sarkisian says he is hoping Blue returns this weekend vs. ULM.

The WR room has been tested in the meeting room by Sark to finish blocks better on the perimeter.

Sarkisian says Ewers was dinged up on the corner route to Gunnar Helm that went for 30 yards. 

Says no one really noticed it due to the catch and run by Helm. Ewers tried to stick through it, but was too much to fight through and hence he went down after the handoff on the very next play.

"I thought Arch really made good decisions on Saturday."

Sarkisian says he calls it an efficient day.

The first throw for Arch after replacing Ewers was a third read where he hit DeAndre Moore for a 19-yard TD.

I love it. 

When asked about Arch's athleticism and where he sees similarities with previous QB's he has coached in the past, Sark says Jake Locker.

Locker went 8th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Sarkisian says the staff will alter how much work Arch Manning will get with the first unit in preparation for potentially starting next Saturday against ULM.

Yeah we know lol they said it 50 million times during the broadcast 🤣 

Steve Sarkisian says he took his headset off and was able to sit back and enjoy seeing his son, Brady, on the filed against UTSA. Says he almost called down to the defensive staff to "Blitz 32!" like any other dad in the stands.

Arch, Wingo, Gibson, Simmons…Sark is just stockpiling superstar talent.
