A trio of Longhorns will meet with the media on Tuesday following the morning practice session. 

Texas is 11 days away from kickoff of the season opener and the team will undergo a mock game on Saturday afternoon to get into rhythm for the season.

Starting with DL Vernon Broughton. 

“Honestly we are pretty deep.” Broughton says Kenny Baker has been constantly rotating the new pieces in. 

Broughton says the new group of transfers has done a great job of acclimating and becoming a part of this team even after only being on campus for a few months. 

Broughton says Coach Baker is more technical than Coach Bo Davis as a coach in practice. 

Run defense “should be good” says Broughton. He added the DL room has been ”busting our ass” this offseason. 

Broughton says the locker room has been more mature since he first arrived. Adds the room has been more locked in mentally. 

 

CB Manny Muhammad on the podium now. 
 

 

“We got a great coach in Terry Joseph.”

Muhammad says he and Jahdae are savvy and the whole room has benefitted as a result of their versatility. 

“Gavin has been doing great. I’m ready to see what he can do come August 31.”

Muhammad on Gavin Holmes. 

“Kobe is big, long, strong, physical and can move well for his size… he had a great spring and fall camp.”

Muhammad on Kobe Black. 

Muhammad says Warren Roberson is a heck of an athlete and has improved tremendously. 

Hayden Conner says the OL has “all of the requirements” for Joe Moore Award on the wall in the locker room and they slap it as they walk out onto the field. 

Nate Kibble is “eager to learn” says Conner. “He is going to be a great development guy.”

 

Conner says Vernon Broughton is making the most of his shot as a top iDL right now. Says he and Jake Majors were talking about it earlier today, that he works every day.

Yes. I ended up asking him about the pass rush to which he came around to saying he feels like he has to cover shorter amounts of time this offseason.
