The MLB Draft is live! Plenty of important decisions to make in terms of the 2025 Texas roster.

Will keep this thread going throughout the next two days as we finally get some ideas of where Texas players and signees get drafted.

Decisions to make:

• Jared Thomas – Drafted No. 42 to Colorado
• Lebarron Johnson Jr. – Drafted No. 139 to Colorado
• Jalin Flores
• Tanner Witt -

2024 Signees:

• SS Bryce Rainer – Drafted No. 11 to Detroit
• SS Theo Gillen – Drafted No. 18 to Tampa Bay
• RHP Levi Sterling – Drafted No. 37 to Pittsburgh
• RHP Jason Flores 
• RHP Drew Rerick

 

UGA 3B Charlie Condon goes 3rd overall to the Rockies. 

37 HR in 2024.

Florida’s 1B/P Jac Caglianone goes 6th. 

75 HR at UF - school record. 

Texas commit Bryce Rainer is picked 11th overall to the Detroit Tigers. 

Most likely will not make it to campus.

Texas commit Theo Gillen, out of Austin Westlake HS, goes 18th overall to the Rays. 

Texas star Jared Thomas goes 42nd to the Rockies. 

I lean very unlikely you see Thomas return to Texas in 2025.

Good for our guys.

Nope. All four names with Texas ties have gone earlier than expected.

LSU was able to get the #5, #10, and #13 ranked prospects nationally to withdraw.  Impressive

Yep. Best of luck to him in Detroit! Gillen going so high hurts, but with past injuries I bet he signed well under slot. Go be great, kid!

Is he expected to make the weekend rotation next year? I know he's pretty electric, but North Dakota high school ball to the SEC is quite the leap.
