Per a person close to the recruitment of Melbourne (Fla) Eau Gallie 4-star DL Brandon Brown, he is likely to announce a final decision July 3, 4th or 5th.

I’m assuming he’s a goner. It softens the blow for me 😢

Top 3 most important player this cycle. We need to find any way possible to keep Brandon.

Have we thought about maybe just fielding a 7v7 squad going forward?

Also, how does OU jump in there?  Is Baker not having a track record a big factor?

July 4th doesn't give me warm fuzzies. I think it'll be LSU's independence day with at least Zion Williams announcing that day. Hopefully Texas and LSU trade blows instead of just LSU giving Texas body blows on the interior defensive line.

They have 20 commits in the cycle currently, only 3-4 are guys I look at wishing Texas had pursued harder.

They are probably saying the sane think about our class with only Jackson and Lacey as wants.

He probably got a big raise with us losing out on our other 3 targets. 

Yea it’s the DL position, not feeling confident. 
Gerry commented this morning on OTF that we would probably have a top 5 recruiting class, but maybe not fill all our needs. I rather have a top 10ish recruiting class and not have hole in a position.

DT was the biggest need in this class and it isn't particularly close. We decided to bring in the following for OV's:

- Myron Charles (FSU Commit)

- Josiah Sharma (Oregon Commit)

-Kevin Wynn  (FSU Commit)

-Brandon Brown (We'll see)

- DJ Sanders (Texas lean, but a guy you hope can contribute 2-3 years down the road)

- Zion Williams (Weren't able to even get in for an OV - LSU)

How does that happen to the biggest need position at a school like Texas with all of it's resources?  Why were there not more prospects brought in?  You can't get outbid for these guys if you're plan was to bring in 5 guys for OV's at DT when the need is as drastic as it is for Texas.  We have signed the following DT's out of high school in the '23 & '24 classes:

- Sydir Mitchell

- Melvin Hills

- Alex January

The same date as Zion Williams is probably a clue to the outcome here.

I agree with this. It has been said on OTF that if you want two you need to bring in ten. I agree with this totally as well.  However, if you’re not going to bring in ten and just your top five you better bring the money and A game bottom line. They aren’t coming here just because it’s Texas as disappointing as that is. Portal might be an option, but that’s rolling the dice. D. Williams is an example. Pay premium price for a guy that if as good as he thinks he is should’ve been in NFL draft already. I think this is his fourth year, I may be wrong. 

I would not be expecting Texas at this point.
