Should we be worried about tampering allegations ? I would think with the portal being closed, how was he able to be on campus if he was committed to OU ? Are players still technically in the portal if they’ve committed to a school ?

Portal window is just for entry. When the window closes, recruiting, visiting, or committing can still be a free-for-all. It only truly ends for a player when he has officially enrolled or has financial benefits of some kind.

He's in his sixth year so it's possible likely he's a grad transfer, unless he changed majors a few times.  Rules are different for grad xfer guys.
