Taking a Look at Raleek Brown's Fit in the Texas Offense

I can't help but get excited for what's to come with new Texas running back Raleek Brown.

Brown is coming off of a 1st Team All-Big 12 season at Arizona State where he rushed for 1,141 yards on 6.1 yards an attempts and 4 touchdowns.

The touchdown numbers should improve in this Texas offense, but beyond anything else, it is the home run ability that intrigues me the most. Brown has a fantastic ability to get small in the hole, then make the first guy miss in space.

I wanted to share some All 22 clips from the 2025 season showcasing Brown's ability at the running back spot, while also giving an idea of how it may translate to the Steve Sarkisian offense in 2026.

Outside zone look. 

Brown trusts the concept and finds a sliver between four blockers and explodes for a massive gain. 

This is not an easy gap to find

Jaydon Blue made a ton of money on wheel routes while at Texas. 

Remember, that was the only way Texas found the end zone against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl — and they did it twice. 

Brown will fit this role perfectly. 

One of Tre Wisner’s best traits was his patience behind the line of scrimmage. 

Brown shows that off here to let the hole develop and then, poof, gone. 

Sometimes it’s up to the running back to make the offensive line right, and that includes improvising. 

See a gap and go, that’s what Brown does here hitting the front side of this zone look.

Get to the second level and let the speed and instincts take over. 

Not sure how often Brown will be able to make this right turn in the SEC, but it showcases his speed and agility pretty well on this run

Raleek Brown in the Big 12 last year had the –

2nd most missed tackles forced (55)

2nd most runs of 10+ yards (31)

Longest rush of any RB in the conference (88 yards)

Most targets of any RB (46)

Most snaps where he ran a route (273... 56 more than any other back)

 

If the Texas offensive line can find the second level of the defense often – Seymore-Robertson-Baker – then Brown is going to have a really successful season.

I like that this play happened against Texas’ first opponent of the 2026 season, Texas State.

Those long runs are what I'm most excited about. There was a stat you posted last year that I believe was dating back to the 2024 season showing the lack of explosive plays from the RB room. Getting those plays back makes this offense so much more dangerous considering the skill set of each player.

A strong running game will also make the play action pass more explosive as well. 

Get the entire offense clicking, and look out!

Watched the MSST game, but not Tech. Would imagine there wasn't much success against Tech given how talented that front seven was.

vs. MSST, ASU had most of their success in gap running. They couldn't do anything consistently in zone schemes.

I’m more excited about R Brown than almost any other transfer. He’s exactly the sort of piece that Sark weaponizes to perfection. I think he could add a Jaydon Blue element to this offense 

 

Excited to see what he can do and what Juluke can do with the rest of the backs.  

He was recruited to USC as a WR.   He will be a beast in this offense.

He was originally committed to Oklahoma as a RB with Lincoln Riley then followed him to USC before ever enrolling at OU.

Played RB as a freshman then Riley switched him to WR his second year at usc and he redshirted and transferred out to play RB. The versatility from his time as WR will definitely pay off!

He was recruited as a rb at usc but they switched him to wr his sophomore year which might be part of why he left but it let's you know that catching the ball and running good routes is right up his alley.

What I think will make this even more dangerous is the fact there are so many other weapons around him, too. Coleman, Wingo, Mosley, Townsend and even Arch to an extent. You can't just focus on one part and that will make him even more dangerous in the pass game.
