For this week’s OTF Sideline Debate, we asked the staff: If Texas had to pick a sponsor jersey patch, who would you go with and why? — I spent my first year at Texas in Dobie Dormitory. It was in

I hope Texas holds out as long as possible before going the sponsor route. With that said, I get that we're in a different time in college sports. As a wise man once said, everybody's got a

Feel like Dell because of how much he has already donated to the university.ll and it has its history is directly linked to UT

Yes, definitely Dell.  Nice and succinct, and what an impressive man Michael Dell is!

ExxonMobile need that oil and gas money lol

I think a Buccees Beaver on the jersey would be about as  Texas as it can get.

Good lord. Buccees is owned by former Aggies.

A company founded in Texas and donated before the others mentions and likely is the reason Dell exists.  Texas Instruments.  TI cutting edge since the 1930s.

My preference would be no sponsor as the Texas Brand is as valuable as any in the world and sells itself.

I wonder if Oregon is going to officially put Phil Knights face on their uniforms and fields? He's their sponsors already.

Now to answer the hypothetical question, I like either of Marcus and Bobby's answer. Tesla would be a good one but with how Austin is, I'm not sure that would go over very well lol. Plus I'm not a fan of electric cars. But it would be the least invasive, with it just being a T and someone already posted a cool image of a burnt orange one.

if it was going to happen, as long as it's a better deal than the Big 12 got, I'd be happy with it. Give the programs lots of extra cash, non invasive logo and I'm all good.

Now preferably I'd love to have nothing and just keep it the way it is. But unfortunately the progress of college sports is already trending that way. I don't like it but no one cares about what some Aussie not even in the country has to say lol.

We can probably get an OTF patch on the jerseys but Bobby will have to raise a yearly subscription to 45 thousand

I think a pic of @Gerry Hamiltonand @Joe Zura would be so sweet.

Pretty awesome Texas can be choosers and not beggars if this ever happens. Texas is one of the biggest brands around and in a phenomenal market so it’s not like we have to get stuck with a grocery chain (looking at you Kroger / Kentucky)

Putting anything associated with Elon Musk on our jerseys would be a good way to stop receiving any money from me.

Based on the survey I received a couple of weeks ago, it is coming. No doubt about it. I know the lean is to keep the jersey clean, so how about this for an idea: We go to Nike and say we don’t want to add a Sponsor but it makes economic sense to do so, are you willing to step up and pay the price to keep the eyeballs only on your logo and not put on another companies logo? Hook’em!!!

Bottom line is it is coming I'm sure. Need all the revenue streams possible these days. I'm also positive we won't get fleeced like the Big 12 Monster deal either lol. Unless we steal this big idea from LSU that they say is coming. The so called revolutionary way to fund athletics and stop donor fatigue😂

Great. It's why it's a terrible idea. Lots of people wouldn't be too crazy about putting a nazi and general comic book villain on our jerseys.
