Do we have a "head hunter?"

Featured Replies

Do we have a head hunter on this team? Just a guy who may not even be a starter but is a certified hit stick

Who would you say it is?

is that even a thing anymore with targeting being such a concern?

Maybe Richie Wesley? If we're going non-starter, sub package guys that could be inserted to just create havoc.

Probably not a thing as much anymore given the targeting rules and how often it's called.

Jelani would be my bet for hardest hitter of the bunch.

Bingo

Kenny Vaccaro might've been the last true head-hunting safety Texas had. Kenny was much more than that, though.

Even more recently, guys like Jason Hall would now be recruited to play linebacker. That transition worked for DeMarvion Overshown, FWIW.

I have to go with Jelani McDonald. Ty'Anthony Smith had some big hits in high school but is probably a bit too undersized to really decleat guys in the SEC. Here's a clip of him and Jasper vs. Waco Connally in the playoffs during Smith and Kobe Black's senior seasons. Jasper won and ended Black's HS career. Kinda crazy seeing how skinny Smith was at that point
