The streak continues: Texas has scored in every inning of the regional so far. The Longhorns have also hit 10 home runs in 11 innings.

Winter's strikeout to open the eighth is the 619th of the season for the Longhorn pitching staff, setting a new school record.

The previous record was 618 in 1985.

Greg Swindell set the single-season school record with 204 strikeouts that same year.

We had quite the pitching staff that year.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Schloss is going to bring Connor McCreery into the game for his first appearance of the season.

Schloss wanted to get McCreery on the mound in the regional, if possible, as a reward for everything he's done for the program in his two seasons with the Longhorns. McCreery, who came to Texas from South Carolina with injury issues, made three appearances last season.

Ermis helps McCreery finish off a strikeout with a 2-3 putout, putting a fork in this one.

Texas heads to the regional championship tomorrow to face either Tarleton State or UCSB.

Tomorrow? Is it a double header for the winner between Tarleton State/UCSB?

Regarding the pitching plan for the regional, Schloss said he didn't plan to use Volantis again this weekend, which is why he was extended today.

He and Max Weiner brought Volantis back out for the seventh so that he could tip his cap to the crowd and get a well-deserved ovation.

sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, but do you think flora will get the nod in the ucsb/tarleton rubber match tomorrow, or will they try to roll with someone else with an eye toward the final?

I think he's done. He threw 97 pitches today.
