BTW...Freshman year at Texas. Stonewalling aggy on two point conversion at home to win the game and conference on game ending play, "Shock the Nation" tour 1990. We stormed the field after it ended.

Not new but: my grandpa took me to the 91 cotton bowl. Miami beat the brakes off of us.  He owned the feed store and fertilizer distributorship in our east Texas town.  By all accounts we should be Aggies and most of his customers were full blown Ags.  
When our guys ran out of the tunnel in the cotton bowl, he looked at me and said,” Don’t get better than this.”

 

I was hooked  then and there then got both my undergrad and grad degree from McCombs.  I Miss him everyday and glad he took me to that game.

I am pretty sure I was at that game. If I remember correctly, Rice arm side DE got the edge, popped Vince in the chest, VY slapped his head into the dirt after taking 2 steps back and took off for Positive yardage.  But sometimes I mix my VY folklore.

Great topic.

My most impactful game was one where I was actually at another university - yes, college station 🫤.  1974.  It was bitterly cold, blustery day at Memorial - the Goodyear blimp was roaring above, fighting the norther that had blown in.

In a matter of minutes the #8 aggy squad furkcoastered to a 17-0 deficit, thanks to 3 fumbles.  Then this freshman kid from Tyler ran all over them, finishing a 32-3 shellacking by the Longhorns.

I was at the 40 acres the following year at the College of Pharmacy.  Never looked back.🤘

Been a member here since 2024. I live in the Salt Lake City area now (for the last 6 years) but was born and raised in TX and lived in the Austin area for 14 years before moving out here. My first UT memory is fuzzy. I couldn't tell you any details, but it was watching the UT vs A&M game on thanksgiving in the late 1980's or early 90's. I was born in 1983, so it was sometime in there. It was a tradition we always did with our extended family and still do to this day.
