Texas makes the cut for Sierra Canyon (Calif.) DL Marcus Fakatou.

Fakatou spoke recently with @Hank South after visiting for the Texas spring game where he mentioned the Longhorns were in the top three for his recruitment.

Texas is right in the thick of things for the 6-foot-7-inch, 275-pound defenive lineman.

Texas feels like if they don't get him it's because he prefers to play DE ... which he will have a hard time being from a frame perspective long team.Ohio State has J.T. T. in his ear about playing DE for the Buckeyes

Thought Texas was recruiting him as a DE to replace Lance Jackson long term.

This kid is beastly.  I hope we get him. This idea of body type measurables for certain positions should be thrown out the window when the athletic talent is high enough.   
 

Edit:  he would definitely be a great fit for to follow Lance Jackson

Lane is a more of a 5-tech, slide inside guy on 3rd downs long term ... that's what Texas ideally wants Fakatou to be

What is 5- tech position? Does Lance play strong side DE on the 1st-2nd down? Thought LaAllen Clark was the lead recruiter.

I also would like it broken down a little more if possible. I do also remember hearing Clark took over the recruitment and that’s why we were even in the top 3

Texas is certainly trying to fight back

There’s not many guys that size that move that well. 

The correct answer is- you play whichever position you want to play.  This kid's film is freaky.

275 pounds now, has been over 300 pounds in high school and thinks he’s a defensive end? A college weight and nutrition program is prolly going to slap him hard back into reality.
