Sean Miller says Jordan Pope chose to play. 

"He gave us everything." 

Miller says Tramon Mark could have sat out but chose to play for the University of Texas. Miller says that's what made him most proud. 

Miller says the season Dailyn Swain had was remarkable. 

Miller: "Very, very proud of these guys. It ends in a really tough way when you lose these close games. But I would much rather lose a heartbreaker and then go away the other way."

Pope says it was definitely up in the air about whether he would play. Says he broke his foot. Credits the training staff. 

Pope says he couldn't break his foot anymore so there wasn't any risk playing outside of discomfort. 

"I'll never have this opportunity again. I couldn't let it pass."

 

 

Tramon Mark says being a competitor and wanting to play and advance is what got him through playing with the injury. 

"I'm just thankful I was still able to go out there and produce."

 

Miller says playing quicker and smaller they could switch and defend the drive in a better fashion. Matas couldn't defend Braden Smith on a switch. Miller says they did get the stop but they got them with the offensive rebound. 

Miller says the game was one with second chance shots. 

"They're big and physical and we felt that."
 

Miller says watching Texas grow and evolve through the year, it wasn't easy. Says the team found a way to get the next one and stay the course. 

 

Miller says tonight's game could have gone either way. 

Miller: "When you see Jordan Pope sacrifice, Tramon Mark sacrifice, I think it's a great sign they cared about each other and the University of Texas." 

Miller says he told the team there will come a day when they take a next step as a program and it's because the tone this team set. 

Miller says they would never put a player at risk of further injuring himself. 

Miller says watching Pope tonight was really remarkable. 

Miller says there's no moral victories. 

Miller says you have to take steps and this team accomplished a real necessary step for a bright future. 

Miller says Matas has grown by leaps and bounds this year.

Definitely the right coach. 

I am not a big basketball fan, but UT made quite a run at the end.  I think Miller has them on the right track and next year should be even better.

Heck of a run especially given how the regular season ended. I didn’t know too much about Sean Miller before he was hired but his passion and no BS mentality is contagious. Excited to see how he builds out the roster for next season🤘
