I mean holding on to matas is what you need to do in order to build a program like Gerry is saying miller wants to do! You can’t not pay up if u want to build a program that has no foundations to go with if u don’t retain the players. Thomas haugh was developed by Florida but bet he was asking for more money last year so don’t get why we even mention him as an example if we aren’t willing to spend on players we need to build around. If you can’t do that you’ll have nothing to build around is my point. I know players cost money 😂

anyways I’m hearing we have money so I’m not too worried just excited for portal

Wow you were right on the money literally

All depends on Swain's decision - portal numbers (that goes into need, and NIL available). Matas won't be cheap - tier 1/blue bloods are reaching out to his agent (he's considered very elite at center

Pope making the three free throws at the end of regulation wasn't easy, Miller said. "He was terrific in his last game here at Texas at home," Miller said. "If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have

Texas has money, but there are levels to it.

Texas doesn't have close to what tier 1's have. Just reality.

Matas will be double to be here year two.

"IF" Swain were to come back, he would be dang near double.

Goosby wasn't cheap out of HS (even though he turned down double+ from BYU and double from Duke)

In a scenario Swain came back (which I am not predicting), that's A LOT tied up by potentially your three best players. 55-60%

I think that's the main difference in tier 1 NIL programs ... that's 33'ish%.

Even football has level and they will always come first. Texas pays in football but is typically not the highest offer. I can see Swain coming back because of his relationship ship with Coach Miller, but turn down first round money? Louisville got the Xavier guard at two million last year if I am remembering correctly. And the prices keep going up. Say you pay a shooting guard with length two million plus. You still have to pay Matas, Swain and Goosby. Once you do that you still need a power forward that can face the basket. Need a veteran guard that preferably gets into the lane and make shots. Man it’s sounding like we may need Wilcher and ughhhgg Heide to come back at reduced prices. So hard to build a team these days.

I don't agree that Matas is a necessity. He's good offensively at times, but he turns the ball over so much and is so limited defensively that it's not really even a wash. He's definitely not worth more than 2 mil.

I'm guessing Swain is gone to the draft, Heide and Wilcher transfer and the rest of the roster is completely fungible. The combo guard stuff is hit or miss, whereas true a point is gold. I hope Miller looks at the backcourt from this season and realized he better get a real lead guard. He was a real lead guard, so you'd think he'd understand that.
