Texas baseball will have a media availability this morning over at the Disch.

The Longhorns will depart to Houston for their weekend series this afternoon. A handful of Horns will speak, as will head coach Jim Schlossnagle.

Notes and quotes in the comments down below.

Weekend Schedule:

  • Friday: vs. Coastal Carolina (7:00 p.m.)
  • Saturday: vs. Baylor (7:00 p.m.)
  • Sunday: vs. Ohio State (2:00 p.m.)

Coastal apparently lost their top 2 starting pitchers for a pretty lengthy amout of time yesterday.

Schloss says there typically has been an adjustment period for Texas teams he’s coached against in the past when moving to a natural playing surface.

Says that will be a test this weekend.

Looking forward to being at Enron aka Minute Maid aka Daiken Park this weekend... For those going most Texas fans will be posted up at Little Woodrows and or Cabos all weekend...

Carson Tinney says he’s been very happy with the composure side of things from the starting rotation this year.

He mentioned it’s his job to keep pitchers focused and composed when calls go different ways or hits start to rack up. Says he uses a certain vocabulary with the starting arms that keeps the game fun

Harrison says he, Dylan Volantis and Ruger Riojas keep each other accountable with their bodies, recovery and nutrition.

Says the trio want to make sure it’s them three on hill to start every weekend game this year.

Tinney says plate discipline is a big part of his game he’s working on.

“I am somebody that damages the ball when I make contact. So I’m trying to do the best I can at that.”

Ashton Larson tore his quad at LSU last season. That might be the reason he sometimes gets defensive subbed.

That's a good point. Schloss said it is often to get other guys involved and on the field when asked today about it.

Can we get a roll call for this weekend!? Anywhere to meet up?

I am not sure we will have plans for it in Houston.

I will be up in Dallas for the Under Armour camp, Gerry is out in Houston as well.

Meanwhile Jim is talking about wanting Tinney to be more aggressive!
