Desmond Howard - on Sherrone Moore (pre-firing)

Featured Replies

This guy really knows people:

“I’ve spent some time with Coach Moore,” Howard said. “I think he’s just a wonderful individual, a great human being, fantastic coach. I love the culture. And the good thing is that he was on staff with [former Michigan head] Coach [Jim] Harbaugh, so he understands what the culture is and how to maintain it and how to sustain it, so it’s always a good thing.”

He's talking about a great culture in his cesspool program (to take a term by another ESPN analyst).  Michigan has had 11 staffers either arrested (7) or banned from the sport for rules violations (4) since Jim Harbaugh arrived.

He certainly helped to sustain the culture.

Howard may have a skeleton or 2 in the closet and realizes his best move is to just remain quiet.

Did it come out that desmond knew about this before it got public?

I decided long ago most of the national media guys are a mile wide and an inch deep.  I quit gameday when they brought mcafee on.  Desmond seems like a fool

Court jesters are entertaining. Howard is much, much worse. He’s a Michigan man.

Howard was probably being 100% sincere.  It is possible that a man like Moore presented himself during work hours as the person Howard described.

However, add in alcohol and the power of the triangle and some men go crazy.

It’s been said that people wanted him gone. Let’s say that’s true. He’s married with kids. Be accountable to them and he would still be coaching.

You misunderstand me.  There is no doubt that Moore should be held accountable- by U of M, his wife, and the law.  I am just saying that Howard was fooled like everybody else by Moore.  I don't understand the criticism of Howard in this thread.  I don't think it is fair.

Howard also felt the culture was great under Harbaugh.  This is a guy very close to the program.  They had 11 guys either arrested, or banned from the sport due to rules violations

The criticism of Howard is fair in any thread. We’re just taking out the trash.

Totally understand what you said. That was more of a comment about Moore in general. Moore has his side of the story too. I agree that the Howard criticism on this topic is not fair. There should not be an assumption that he knew. Having said that, Howard is an idiot in general. He says a lot, without any evidence to back up what he says.

I love Desmond Howard as an on-air personality. We will agree to disagree.

I don’t know. What could Moore possibly say that would change the narrative?

Not much. I just said he has a side. Doesn’t mean it makes sense.

And I’m betting his lawyer is telling him to keep his mouth shut until a deal is cut. No way this goes to trial.

Only his wife takes out the trash now.
